Great course and well maintained value for money
Incorrect information on golf now
Golf now showed lots of tee’s available. So I booked one.
When I got to the course the pro shop said he’d given my tee to a member. He said I can go on later, he also said the course was rammed, I wouldn’t of bothered f I knew.
He was quite rude.
He said golf now had incorrect information about tee times. He said it wasn’t linked correctly. But they still took the money anyway.
I called up golf now for refund. They couldn’t do it.
Between good now and the course I was miss sold a over priced tee time.
Excellent course.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course, it was in excellent condition greens were great, no patches and ball rolled true. Clubhouse and staff was excellent too. Would thoroughly recommend playing there.
Disappointing
Played at Silverstone lots over the last couple of years and always enjoy it. I appreciate its early in the season but the greens were probably the worst I've ever played on, and I've played on some bad greens ! Really severe damage, bald muddy patches everywhere and impossible to get the ball to roll without jumping all over the place made scoring fairly redundant.
To still charge full price and for the pro shop to not even mention the conditions when signing in was pretty poor.
We will be back but I think we'll be leaving it a few months this time.
disappointed
14 temporary tees many placed 50 yards ahead of the permanent tees making difficult holes easy.
All the greens were very uneven with many defects.
Trollies were banned due to the course being very wet, not the courses fault but not mentioned on golfpass. The club text me to inform me which was too late to cancel.
Waterlogged
Was really looking forward to the round of golf but unfortunately there had been a long period of rain and we were surprised the course was even open.
Arrived early and booked in at the staff shop to be told no trolley’s. That seemed reasonable due to the rain previously. Looking back at this point i would have liked to have been told about the course condition as once we started on the first fairway we mentioned that we were surprised they had let us play. The course was soaking. This being said the tee boxes and greens were in very good condition the fairways though were extremely wet where even keeping grip under the foot was a problem.
After three holes and the weather turning worse we said that nine holes would be enough for the day.
We followed a four ball around and were happy to hold back allowing them to finish the holes but unfortunately the four ball following us lacked patience and whilst on the ninth fairway balls started landing around us. Thank goodness we were finishing that hole we thought.
The problem with GolfNow is you pay up front to pay. We both were looking forward to our round but once on the course felt let down with the conditions of the course being so wet and bunkers unplayable. Perhaps the offer of a voucher to return to play could be offered by the club as surely they would known the course would not be playing to expectations. If i were the greenkeepers i would have preferred the course to be closed to maintain their hardwork and condition for further play.
On the plus side the holes we played looked nice enough, the layout of the facilities looked welcoming with what looked a nice clubhouse. Members were in good form suggesting to ask if we could start at the tenth as we were only a two ball. This was declined by the pro shop which was fair enough as we would then have to start later in the day back on the first tee to complete 18.
We will return to complete a round but may possibly book through the club directly l. Paying for 18 holes and then playing nine because we felt the course was not playing to its best didn’t offer us value this time
SILVERSTONE GOLF
Really like this course considering becoming a member
amazing course very challenging and open
only played the front nine would recommend this course as both long and challenging and greens are well looked after and the fairways are very forgiving and wide little bit of rough also watch out for the hidden pond on five
First timer
First time playing this course after rave reviews from my son and other friends. Didn’t disappoint apart from the gale like conditions! Course was in great nick, and the back 9 particularly, has some super holes.
Silverstone Golr Club
Fantastic layout
Well kept
Staff friendly
Facilities excellent
Will be playing here regularly from now on been looking for a course as just got back in to playing again.
Great Course,
Really enjoyed playing Silverstone. I’m a 25 hcp and found it a nice enough challenge. Some long holes and a couple of nice tests.
Would definitely come back and play
A breezy day
Played the course after there had been several days of rain and greens were in good condition, still quite quick. Pace of play was good, holes challenging in the windy & cold conditions but good fun. Would recommend a visit.
Lovely Course
Really enjoyed my 1st Silverstone experience.
Friendly welcome
Let through on 1st tee and by other groups with a chat and a wave.
Nice flat course with interesting holes.
Only downside was greens like concrete but they do run true.
Will revisit in spring
Great course, in great condition
Ok so Silverstone is nothing more than gently undulating, I'm good with it not being a physical test as well as a test of golfing ability, there are after all other local courses that can do that. I like ot because its pretty long, has lots of features and offers a bit pf space in places to not punish you too much if you're a bit wayward. Considering the time of year the course and greens are still excellent, it is a well kept and cared for course and this shows. I'd recommend this course to anyone as it will test you.
Ticks the Boxes
I always look forward to a round here as it does everything it needs to, with no fuss and you can generally get a round here for a very respectable price and it's fairly quiet most days. It knows it's not St Andrews and it doesn't pretend to be, it just does everything it needs to, to tick your boxes and walk off a nice course thinking 'yep, I enjoyed that'.
It's a sensible layout on a large flat area with a driving range, small shop (particularly nice staff) and a nice little putting area. It welcomes you with a nice easy wide open par 5 1st so score well on it as that's as easy a start as you're going to get on any course. It is a fairly easy course everywhere to be fair and you can score well here as there's not much trouble really anywhere. To be in the thick rough or water here then quite frankly you deserve to be as it's so wide open on all the holes.
It does seem to suffer after a heavy rain, well the fairways and bunkers do, and in winter it can be carrying bags only, but the greens are generally always playable. The fairways are always cut well and the greens are decent all year round. Not the fastest greens in the area and not the slowest but they are true but many of the greens are very flat. It's quite open and the wind can affect the round so just keep it low on them windy days.
The par 3s range from the short 3rd and 16th at only 120 yds ish to the 6th that can play 200 yds off the whites. And I love the fact it has 4 very scorable par 5s, if you're a single figure handicapper and you don't score on any of them then you'd be very disappointed.
The members and staff are friendly and it's just a good value for money no frills course.
