Could be great
The layiout and potential of this course is great but the condition was poor! The tee boxes were dirt on most, fairways dry and bare in places and greens in poor condition
Beautiful golf course
Lovely well maintained course. It’s improved since I last played here in 2012. We had a two-ball 8:30 tee-off, pro shop guy was friendly and chatty. Course wasn’t busy. We made it round in 3:15mins! Good play I expect!
The course was in great shape with lots of gentle up and downs, with a couple of really exciting plateau holes. I found the greens on both thankfully! A couple of the teeing areas were bare but probably due to tree cover, importantly though (and many other clubs could take note) they were nicely flat.
I would recommend and will certainly not leave it another 8 years before I return. KD
Challenging Municipal!
Good Value for money municipal course hidden in Southampton.
A Driving range but you supply your own balls.
Friendly Staff and Bowlers eatery offing good selection of well priced snacks and food, and beers / drinks. Tee boxes and fairways need some love but the greens good for a municipal course.
A good courseall in all, some challenging holes!
Great value
Cracking course. Quite open so relatively forgiving although, some of the two tier greens make certain holes more of a challenge. Considering the recent hot weather and other social restrictions, the team have done a superb job to maintain greens, fairways and tee boxes to a decent standard. Overall very happy with the course and will play again when looking to blow off the cobwebs or have a sociable day.
Ruined by slow play.
A three ball playing with just one set of clubs between them, holding everyone up behind ruined the day.
Greens
Awful slow greens. Impossible to get any putt to the hole. Fairways in terrible condition. Course is a nice lay out but needs looking after
Great course
Could not recommend this course more. Had a great time on a lovely course.
Fantastic course for £
Really enjoyed playing this course. Challenging but well kept course.
Greens were a bit spongy/long grass but all round the course was very nice to play, especially with how dry it has been lately
Staff in the shop were very helpful but cafe is a bit lacking for refreshments
Muni
This could be an extremely decent course with a bit of investment. The course itself is great, the rough plays well, the fairways need a bit of work but the main negative point is the inconsistency big the greens. If they were really looked after, this would be a course I'd happily pay membership for
Away day
Lovely setting, really enjoyed our round here at this challenging course. Facilities basic but very good service, enjoyed pre game snack.
Challenging holes
Lots of trees giving you to keep on the fairways straight or ball hunting
Bunkers or just a hill
Water were you don't expect
This course is proper
Loved playing here, the course is long but great fun, nice and quiet,no one in front of us or behind so we played at our own pace and at the finish there’s a lovely cold beer waiting for yer, will definitely be coming back PUP
First time playing course
The course is brilliant value fir money, it has fairly wide fairways so would be a good course for a beginner, only issues I had were with other players, the pace of play was shockingly slow & the group in front didn’t seem to understand that you should let faster players through especially as we were in a 2 and there was 4 of them, also it appears that a lot of players have just left their pitch marks on the greens which had caused the greens to be a bit variable due these tiny divots that were scattered around. Other than that the course was brilliant and I would definitely recommend
First round in ages.
I booked a 14.28 tee time through golf now, booking found no problem, clubhouse stamped a car for me and allowed me to tee off a little early as no one was waiting, which helped me out as was playing to a time. A lot of the rough was really cut back, so wasn’t too punishing, but there are still enough challenges on the course involve good course management rather than smashing driver all day. The course was very dry, but played well, slight cracking on some area of the a few greens, but didn’t affect the round.
Southamoton Golf course
Southampton, in my opinion is one of the best pay and play courses in the South of England. The course layout is wonderful. A few holes that run parallel but each one is large tree lined so if you do stray often you will be blocked out. The greens today were rather fluffy and slow but that I'm sure is largely because of the continued furlough because of covid. Pound for pound you can't beat it. We had a very enjoyable round. The four of us are members of Dudsbury Golf course in Bournemouth and we found the twenty mile drive well worth it.
