Springhead,bargain

Great value for £10,all fairways and greens in good condition, could do with a van to get refreshments after the 8th hole like you used to be able to.plenty of work gone into the course the last few years and is all the better for it now.

A local cheap course

Not the best weather to play golf on this course, like many the ground was very wet, but it’s a cheap and friendly place to play.
Not my best round as the conditions where poor but it’s ideal to get your golf fix in if you are not a member or just fancy a quick round of golf, it was quite busy so the pace was fast but conditions slowed play. Great on site caffe for food and drink with nice friendly staff and groundskeepers. I do prefer this course in summer but overall it not a bad place to play, could be better if they offered a cheaper price for 9 holes as well as the 18.

Greens need more care

Good Tee boxes, adequate fairways, greens spiked and others not cut or tended on the day, Otherwise nice layout good test for mid handicappers.

Cheap local course

Not a bad course for a beginner golfer, shame they don’t do a 9 hole price. Very up and down lays on the fairways, but overall not a bad course if your local and new to golf

Good Course

Good course and in good nick now the weather has turned. Few patchy greens but nothing you wouldn’t expect in the price. Reasonable price for a good course. Good layout and mixture of holes.

Grass all one length

Can’t tell the fairways from the rough, greens are absolutely awful! Balls get lost on the fairway because the grass is too long. Can’t place your ball with out it moving on the awful greens. The prices are going up but the course management is none existent. Paid £17 on the golf now app and my friend wanted to jump on so I asked when I arrived and they tried charging him £23 when I he paid £17. Awful price for an awful course. Should be £15 a round. Normamby hall another council course is only £16 a round and an unbelievable golf course well looked after and always having work done to improve the course. Springhead is slowly becoming an absolute dump I will not be playing here again.

Shocking

After 3 or 4 days of nice weather and sunshine I expected the course to be in good shape. I was warned when I got there it was a little damp in places. Good god, it was a bog in places. First tee shot plugged in the barely cut fairway. At one point I was ankle deep in water just in the first cut. How the course was open let alone charging 18 quid a go is beyond me. It’s pretty much a field with flags in at the moment.

Christmas golf at 8am

Played off temp tees to practice greens as you would expect this time of year. The course was wet but not too boggy. Paid £12 for 28 holes, got out there, had a great time, what more are you looking for?

Poo! And I’m not joking!

So the overall course conditions were terrible.
The tee boxes looked like most courses rough, very long grass hacked to pieces, some you couldn’t even tell were the markers were. The greens were again long grass. Some very damp even after a few days of boiling weather. Very patchy bumpy just terrible quality. And then to top that off, there was a poo on the 12th green, not a cat poo, not a dog poo, and actual full sized human poo in the middle of the 12th green!
The pace of play was horrendous, we played in a 2 and the two groups ahead of us were in 2s and the group behind us were in a 2, by the time we got to the 18th green. There was a duo on the green, one on the fairway, us waiting to tee off and the group behind us also waiting to tee off!
The pro in the shop was friendly and polite before teeing off which was prob the only shining light of the round if it honest, that and shooting -1 net.
