Interesting challenge
Great golf course, with several interesting holes. A few short holes but sharp doglegs made them tricky, so no "silly" holes.
We got stuck behind a seniors match, which slowed our round by about 45 mins, but there is a great half way house for a break.
Tees and greens in good condition, and overall tidy.
Extremely friendly reception at the shop, and good bar facilities.
Its on the A1 but its not visible on the course, so do not let that put you off.
Great course, but greens very quick
We always enjoy a round at Stoke Rochford, but on this occasion we thought some of the greens had been cut too short and were very quick which was not to our liking. Very difficult to hit puts at the hole with any kind of pace.
Thirsty
Nice course in undulating scenery. Occasion spoiled because half way house would not serve non members ! That is ridiculous on a hot July day where the pace of play was determined by a group of seniors who could get refreshments- poor management decision which makes it highly unlikely I will return as it suggests non members are seen as second class citizens.
Superb Course
Great layout and super green, using the contours of the ground for a forgiving and fun layout. Great value and well looked after Bunkers. Drought conditions meant fairways were brown but still plenty of grass under the ball. Really enjoyed my first round here
Magnificent coarse
I live quite locally to this coarse but never played as always thought it was members only.
Wow what can I say excellent coarse greens were like lightning, kept you thinking all the time, nice touch in the 10 with a refreshment and food cabin all good prices to be fair aswell.
Only down side no driving range.
Really friendly helpful staff.
10 out of 10, defo will be going back
Quick Greens
The greens were in such good condition it was like putting on glass - need to concentrate !
Beautiful course with a backdrop of the magnificent Hall.
Would play here again.
One of the best winter courses
Stoke Rochford is my go to during winter my local course has temps all over. They just don't exist here. Always 18 full holes in play and incredibly dry and playable fairways.
Not the hardest course in the world, very forgiving off the tee, especially in winter when the rough is light.
Greens are incredibly quick and very undulating, if you're not used to them they can cause a lot of problems.
I'll be back this summer with a big group as I've never seen it in the height of the season. Looking forward to it.
++++ defo one to tick off.
Cracking course, greens weren't the best but they'll only improve.
Definitely good value for money!
Will definitely go here again.
Good course and winter conditions
Overall a good course, fairly dry for winter and great greens
Great course even in winter
Whilst a couple of places between holes were a bit muddy the course it well maintained in winter and is my favourite local course to play winter or summer.
Fast greens, slow play
A bit wet and windy to start, but cleared up later. Have played here many times before, but today too many fourballs slowed the pace of play (we were a two ball). Towards the end, the fourball in front of us walked off as even they thought it was too slow. Just made it back before the light faded.
Greens very quick still and general conditions fine considering the recent rain.
Of the blind tee shots (quite a few), for some reason, the 16th doesn't have a bell, so that adds to the delay as you have to wait until you think the group in front has got far enough ahead.
Thank you for your review on your recent visit. We really appreciate feedback as it helps us to ensure the best possible experience for our visitors and members alike. We are pleased you liked our course and the scenery, we are very privileged to have such a beautiful setting.
However, we are sorry to hear that your occasion was spoiled and you felt that you were seen as second class citizens. This is not the case at all as we value everyone who plays our course.
Our Half Way House is only open to visitors and members on Friday to Sundays and Wednesdays (there is a sign on the 10th Tee advising this), and therefore was not open to visitors or members on Monday 25 July when you played. We were hosting a Seniors home match, who had special permission to use the Half Way House for a private event, and was only opened to serve the guests of the Seniors Section who were playing the match.
We apologise that you felt inconvenienced but hope you understand that this was a private function. Our Club House was, of course, open for the sale of food and drink and the Pro Shop sells cold drinks to take away so there were opportunities for refreshments on the day. Thank you.
