Friendly interesting course
Enjoyed playing here. Decent mix of challenging holes. Good pace of play for a 9 hole x 2. Varied tee boxes on back 9 made it more interesting than your typical 9 x 2 hole course. Staff and members very friendly. Course condition surprisingly good given we’ve had so much rain
Course was excellent
Excellent course, great value for money, booked online via Golf Now. A great place to play Golf
Bad Vibe
Been here a few times and always seem to run into ‘members who are in comps’ who deem it necessary to push in, and then it clearly seems as though they aren’t when you see them playing multiple shots from one place etc.
This time I found myself been hollered at from other golfers who are had not even begun to putt on the previous hole asking me to let them play through, even though I am not holding them up in any way at this point as I had teed off already.
As a higher handicapper it’s probably not ideal, also when I had also spent an hour behind two older golfers to play 4 holes (which I didn’t mind as they were playing as fast as they could) it all just felt a little out of sync in terms of pace of play and what is allowed.
The course itself is ok, and for the prices I think there’s other options to look at.
top quality lovely course
I have played here through the winter so it was nice to get out in the sunshine and dry conditions. the course was amazing. firm fast greens that rolled well and fairways were great as always. there are always green keepers out keeping the course immaculate and as always had a great time there. no hold ups. loved it.
annoying
I booked to play 10.18am and got there early but with road qorks outside the sign for club I drove past it twice. I went to try and book in but I could find nobody around so went to the toilet and tried to sign in on the book that said sign in but there was no book. there was also no sign to first tea so it took me a while to find that and that's where the bad side stops. the course was great. although only 9 holes twice and using same tees frequently as they were all closed off the fairways were solid, bunkers soft and greens fantastic for the time of year. however after the 1st 9 which went well as I was only behind a few people as I got to the second 9 there were 11 people waiting and several 3 balls gone before which hampered my 2nd 9 disappointingly.
Always a pleasure to play here
Course always in good condition. It's a challenging course but also a course where good play can lead to a good score.
Half decent
Not a bad course but not a great one either, greens aren’t to bad better than some in the area. No pro shop and not much of a practice area either. It’s a little bit pricey for what it is, played better for the same kind of price.
The green keeping staff have done miracles in keeping all the greens in such good conditions, as was the surrounding course. It was a pleasure to play my golf there.
Glad to be back at Stone
With Covid and restrictions on visitors, this was our first time to play here this year and the course didn't disappoint Great greens and fairways considering the wet weather. Bit of a log jam early on but quiet for the 2nd 9.
Hope to be back again soon.
first time here for a round course was in great condition greens were excellent had a great day
Very belittling
enjoyed the 1st 9 holes until we got to go around again there were 4 old men waiting on the 1st tee they asked what time we tee'd off so I said 9am it was about 11am and considering we kept up with the 2 ball infront of us he said we could go infront of them this time but next time remember we are only a loud 1hr 50mins to get around 9 holes then another of them piped up and said we were lucky we didn't get a £25 fine WOW....on a positive note we were let through by 3 lovely ladys who were very polite and made us feel welcome which is more i can say about the old men who made us feel belittled and un welcome!!
Nice course with a few challenges
A nice challenging course with good layout, 9 holes but we could go back 9 again so 18 holes in total. A very enjoyable game of golf with some good par 4 holes.
Great condition
Great little course recommend you give this course a go. Awesome!!
Great course
Excellently presented coirse, 9 hole but with 2 tee placements makes for an interesting and challenging 18 holes.
Not for us and they don't seem to be oganised
Unfortunately booking on Golf now for this course appears to be a problem for this club.
Not the best of welcomes and a competition was in full swing. Lots of confusion and questions.
I would not be booking this again and i will stick to my usual course.
Decent for the price.
I've played here a couple times recently and got tee times for £13 which I consider a good price to pay. The course is only 9 holes but you use 18 different tees which makes up for it being only 9 holes. The layout of the course is OK too and people of all standards could enjoy a knock here. The conditions are fine although the greens are slow but they roll fine.
Two groups of members let me through this time and all members I've seen have been polite and seem freindly enough.
The main let down is a lack of a proper putting green and decent practise facilities. I've not used to bar or restaurant but they look fine.
Overall I think it's definitely worth the £13 but if £20 or over there is better courses in the area for about that price.
