Worth a visit for both 9 and 18 holes
A good choice for a play and pay course. Easy to book and good VFM. The course offers three 9 hole loops each with its own challenges. We chose the Somers to start which has two long par 4s and two good par 5s. We played the Hampton as the back 9 which has a links feel to it but is not that long. The course was in good condition with a lot of run on the fairways due to the recent dry conditions. The greens were well kept and quite receptive . There is an excellent driving range into the lake with a practice bunker (needs more sand) and a good chipping and putting green . Good well stocked pro shop and comfortable bar with good choice of food. Well worth a visit but be aware that there are some lengthy walks between some of the holes.
Good course
The course was in great condition considering the time of year, testament to this was the use of the main greens instead of winter greens. This is the first time I’ve played here and will be back here again.
Good greens
Played a three ball with friends on the blythe course good weather for October-Played my best golf -Shot a 90 and my handicap has come downcourse in good condition and you can't be disappointed for £12.50 On tee off rimes-Ill be back
Stronebridge Bylthe / Hampton course
I am a keen golfer H/Cap 8.
I play this course quite often with my friends who live local. There are 3 very different 9 hole courses all with a different lay out. if you want a more challenging round i suggest the Hampton / Somers course. Somers is a slightly longer 9 and a few holes that could ruin that medal card.
The Blythe course has some interesting holes where you have to play a more considered game rather than a grip and rip round.
The greens are fair and in good condition pretty much all year round.
The course does get a fair bit of traffic and the round can be slow in the summer. However, i would recommend this course and is good value for money.
Dissapointed
Played the Hampton/Blythe course which was very wet and even some of the greens were squidgy. Seemed to be a lot of holes squeezed into a small space, with lots of par 3's. Easy to hit another fairway and difficult to know when you are safe to take some shots if you go offline. Don't think I would like to play it again.
A GOOD DAY OUT
STONEBRIDGE IS A WELL LAID OUT 3 CIRCUIT COURSE THAT IS CHALLENGING IN PLACES BUT WILL NOT COMPLETELY PUNISH MISTAKES THE COURSE OD WELL MAINTAINED AND THE GROUND STAFF ARE EVER PRESENT AND VERY POLITE THE GREENS ARE RECEPTIVE AND MOWN VERY WELL. THE FACILITIES AT STONEBRIDGE ARE VERY GOOD. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY
Stonebridge somers & hampton
The course was in excellent condition, the pace of play on first 9 holes (Somers) was fine but when we got to the second 9 holes (Hampton) we were stuck behind 2 four balls who were playing a competition so pace of play was very, very slow, it was so slow we decided to move on to the Blythe course because we wouldn't have finished before light disappeared (we had a 16:04 tee time). So the only problem was over booking the course or course marshall's not speeding up pace of play or too many people playing the Hampton course.
Hi, thank you for your review of our course. We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit. Looking back at rainfall measurements on the day and previous days you played the weather was wetter than average which would explain the wetter conditions. Now we have had a period of dry weather the course is in a much better state, we can assure you a return visit would be a much better experience. Hampton/Blythe is our shortest course hence the amount of par 3's, so we would recommend our Blythe/Somers course for you next time. Let us know if you want to come back and try our other courses at seems Hampton/Blythe was a bit too short and tight for you.
Regards,
Stonebridge Golf Team
