Very characteristic
Awesome course with plenty of great holes and character, tee boxes and greens are well looked after, fairways are in need of some work with divots not being replaced.
This course is a good test for most golfers with tight fairways and well placed hazards which is a good test for course management too
Much Improved Course
I used to be a member here about three years ago and left due to work commitments. The course is in much better nick than it was back then the tees are much better and the greens are too.Bunkers have been moved on the 5th hole making you lay up rather than go for the green which is much safer.Fantastic course!
Beautiful course, stunning setting let down by ignorance
This is probably the most stunningly beautiful course I have played around the Wolverhampton area but each time I have played I have been behind slower players, sometimes several groups of four balls and I've either played as two ball or on my own and no-one let's you play through, very few replace divots or pitch marks so the course is let down by ignorance. May be people haven't been educated to the etiquette of this gentlemanly game but common sense should prevail. Without course marshals I think playing will continue to dwindle as a four hour 18 hole takes over five hours or a 9 hole takes over 3 hours to play.
The Staffordshire
Beautiful course, greens a bit tricky or it might have been just poor putting.
Can't wait to go back for another try.
always love playing this course...
Tree lined nearly every hole making accuracy a must. Good green complexes, tricky green requiring reading (unlike a lot of courses which are usually no-break straight putting). About 4 or 5 winter greens, which is excellent for time of year and totally understandable. Real gem, beats most of local courses around this part of the world...
18 Tees on mats and 18 temporary fairway greens
As said above. All greens and Tees were temporary, for no need that I could see.
Putting on the fairway is as you can imagine.
Spoilt the whole round.
Too slow
4 balls need to remember that they have to keep up with the game in front or LET QUICKER PLAYERS THROUGH!!
Very nice course!
Apart from the incredibly slow play the course was in fantastic condition for this time of year. Small greens and narrow fairways make this a great challenge. Not the longest course you will play but you are surrounded by some fantastic views & woodland.
well kept course
well layed out course, very well maintained ,several elevated tees
A good challenge for all
This was the second experience of this course and was again very happy with the course. very scenic and established with challenging but reasonable holes. Greens were heavily sanded as maintenance was underway but otherwise course in great condition.
Great Course
Played here on a very sunny day in September. It had rained very heavy the night before but the course had drained well.
Make sure you make the most of the back 9 as in my opinion that's where your going to make your best scores as the front nine is tight and tricky.
Greens were pretty quick even with the rain that had hammered down the day before.
Course does have some altitude changes so if you tend to flag toward the end of a round I'd get a buggy from the start.
Overall an excellent 4 hours on an excellent course.
Swindon Golf Course - Now "The Staffordshire"
Just played here yesterday with my friends in a golf society. Since playing here the last time it has been renamed and is now "The Staffordshire" and the front and back nines have been reversed.
It still remains one of my favourite courses and has one of my favourite golf holes as well.
The course was in excellent condition, the greens were a little hard and fast but very true and perfectly fair. The fairways nicely mown and well defined. It isn't the longest course but it does require accuracy. The par 3s are all a challenge and a par is far from a certainty. It is a little hilly but not too bad.
The food and drink was excellent in quality, quantity and price, and the clubhouse very welcoming.
I don't think you will be disappointed playing here
