Return to Great Hay
Back to play this course after ten years , overall very nice to play only let down, apart from my golf, was the bunkers. Might suggest you visit The Astbury and see there bunkers
Plugging nightmare
Course was muddy throughout , balls plugged on nearly every hole , some good holes , just really bad drainage , would like to play again in the summer months
Telford Hotel Golf Course
Taking into account the time of year and weather we have had, the fairways were still heavily waterlogged and borderline unplayable in parts. The greens however were in good condition. Two four balls refusing to let a two ball through and spending 5 minutes (each hole) looking for their balls after a drive under leaves didn’t help a very long round.
That said, I can imagine in the summer it would be a very good course to play, but with the drainage avoid during the autumn/winter months.
Wet wet wet
No one at golf shop
Had to go into the gym girl on desk didn't have a idea about golf.
Course was very very wet shouldn't have be aloud to play. Not a good experience 😕
Away day
Although the weather was very bad the staff were very helpful and took the time to make me feel at home.
Great course but wet.
Course was very wet due to recent bad weather. Buggies were on and churning up the course. Course itself was fantastic: great and varied holes, lots of bunkers (I found many) which were pristine despite all the rain with lovely deep sand. Greens were fantastic: fast and true despite being damp, receptive and hardly any pitch marks. Some really picturesque holes. Will definitely return when weather drier.
Nice course
Played early Saturday morning steady round of golf . Not much waiting around course was in good condition a little wet in places and some standing water due to the rain . Some of the tee boxes were not so good . But all in all nice course not to many hazards but a good test . Need to be straight off the tees . Greens were in very good condition.
Far too slow
Course is excellent
Greens spot on.. fast and true 👌
Speed of play however was ridiculous
6 hour round
Far too many bookings made around our teetime or people just didnt stick to their time? Who knows?
Want to play here again as course was lovely
Good Course
I've played many times and the course is great. This particular time, however, the first cut grass on the first 10 holes was way too long. This marred the game slightly.
Very boggy.
Fairways very boggy and wet, even when there wasn't any rain for two days prior to date we played, Holding the rain on front 9 fairways, saying that the greens where in good condition and played well. In my opinion there should be a discount on course when in this condition, avoid when theres been wet weather.
Superb value
The course was in great condition considering the recent rainfall- however, I now understand why there is a ball wash between every hole! Lots of clay mud and plugging fairway lost balls!
Would be a superb course in a July / august
Not fit to play
Due to heavy rainfall the course in my opinion should not of been open.
Having said that this is a stay & play venue and doubt very much that would happen.
I’ve never seen conditions like this before on a golf course and I’ve played a few municipal’s.
I’m sure in better weather this is a decent track, however be warned if it’s been wet give it a miss until the sun comes out.
All quite on the western front
If you’ve seen the film, that’s the level of mud you can expect.
In my opinion the course should of been closed. Admittedly we had had a loot of rain locally. My advice would be to play the course in the summer months.
The golf shop was closed when we finished, so no one to speak to.
Maybe return in the better weather.
Their bunkers :)
