Should have worn wellies

I've played this course a couple of times in the summer and have really enjoyed it.

Today was the first time in winter/spring. I asked the guy in the shop what the course was like underfoot and he said it was a bit wet. What an understatement! I know that there has been a lot of rain lately, but the course was in a bad way. Every hole was boggy underfoot. It was like there was no drainage at all, even on the higher up holes. There was no run on any shots at all. The 4th and 5th holes were dreadful, almost to the point of unplayable. Both of our drives hit the middle of the fairway, but we struggled to find them, because they had plugged so much.

The greens mostly ran true, with a few exceptions on the back nine and, like the rest of the course, will play well when the course dries out.

I will not play this course again in the winter or spring. It is definitely only a summer course, until they make extensive changes to the drainage.

Mud mud mud!

The course obviously suffers terribly during wet periods - mud everywhere, deep claggy clay stuff. There is no run on any shots. A real shame as the course is being damaged badly. There is some evidence of drainage work in progress, but it needs radical and extensive hollow tining etc to let it drain. There is nil roping off of slippy/damaged areas indicating limited green staff activity.
Positives - the greens actually ran fairly true, the layout is pleasant and errant balls can be found easily in most instances.
I would go back but only during summer when I suspect the greens would be superb and very quick. The staff were very pleasant throughout.
