Lovely Course but....
Not in great condition
Greens poor
Two holes currently unplayable
Two other holes shortened
Extremely wet, lost three balls after good shots with balls plugging.
Artificial tees
Very disappointed!!
Should have been advised pre booking that not playing as an 18 hole course..
Hot deal issues
Hot deals should not be offered to different members.
A 4rh person turned up unknown to us who was outside my shielding group.
I had to leave immediately.
I have played many times with hot deals but under the current corona virus issues I will never use golf now again going forward.
Spoilt my day......
Brilliantly challenges and fun to play
Although it's currently only 9 holes due to it being winter you can see that it's a brilliant and interesting course to play. It not a flat and boring course and like so many in the area. It has plenty of water and great views. Has few intimidating holes which adds to the fun. Really looking forward to playing in the summer.
Well maintained and enjoyable course
Fun 18 hole course offering a variety of challenge. It has some of the longest and most challenging par 4's I've personally played on so far. Some interesting hazards and beautiful scenery. There's lots of wildlife about - ducks, geese, rabbits, squirrels, deer... Most of them seem very used to golfers and will happily sit a few yards away from you whilst you're taking a shot.
There's a smaller par 3 course for refining your game or if you've just started playing. Also a putting green, chipping green, practice bunker and floodlit driving range.
Staff are friendly and welcoming. The clubhouse is nice and the drinks aren't too expensive. It would be improved if it had a proper light outside and it would be even better if it had an electric heater.
The condition of the course is great. We've had a lot of rain recently and whilst there were some muddy areas, it's in a lot better condition than all the other courses I've played on recently. The greens especially have all been carefully managed throughout the wet weather and are in great condition.
Definitely going to be a regular here
Good course
Was wet and used mats for tee off but was fine with me as you need to look after the course for members which is good only downer for ne was no buggie but thats not the manors fault. Will play again.
Nice layout let down by poor maintenance
This course is very well designed and makes good use of the lovely Yorkshire countryside.
There are some real problems with this course though.
The range runs along the 1st and 10th and both were covered in range balls.
The greens were bumpy and full of pitch marks.
Tee boxes were terrible (nearly all of them)
The fairways were often as long as the rough and where they had been cut the cuttings were left there.
A real shame as with a bit of work this would be a good course
Dont be fooled by the photos
I am really not one for leaving negative reviews of courses or nitpicking little things, but I was so disappointed with this course that I felt I had to. After looking at the pictures and reviews I was looking forward to playing here. However the fairways on a lot of the holes were not even worth calling fairways, as my garden is in better condition. They were like the rough, full of patches of clover and weeds, and just not well kept in the slightest. There were a few signs around apologising for the condition and appearance of the fairways, but to be honest it would have been nice to have that information before booking, so you dont waste your money. It is the height of summer, and you expect nice manicured fairways, but they were not even close, to the stage you just couldnt play decent golf on them. The water hazards were either just full of reeds of just looked mucky and green. Some of the greens were in pretty poor condition and they seemed to be inconsistent, some were receptive and then the one after would just run through despite playing the same shot. The bunkers in general were abysmal, some didnt have rakes, some looked like they hadnt been raked for weeks, one even had a discarded cigarette butt in the middle of it. They had also filled in some of the bunkers on the 18th hole, which were now just grass mounds. We were stuck behind a 3 ball that played so slowly, each of them taking 8-10 shots a hole, and they didnt let us through until the 10th, which made for a 4 hour 15 minute round for 2 people.
If we hadnt paid decent money to play round there, we would have probably given up after 9 holes. I would honestly recommend avoiding this course until they start taking better care of it. There are plenty of courses nearby which are looked after and kept to better standard, so go play one of them, I wouldnt play here again for free in the current condition.
Short but tough back 9
First time playing the course and as a 20 handicapper always challenging first time.
Nicely kept fairways and greens were in good condition.
Front 9 was relativity easy as long as you can hit it straight!
Back 9 found a few of the holes quite tough, tight fairways, especially the 10th and the 14th.
I booked online for ease so £24.50 was a little steep, might be cheaper if you ring pro shop.
Overall decent course, in decent condition for pay and play golfer.
Tip: Keep an eye out for signs for the next hole.
Good course
The Manor is a good course but could with some changes .
Holes 1 and 10 are littered with balls from the driving range which means you could easily be hit at any time .
There are a few holes which are confusing , we ended up playing the wrong green on 3 occasions . One green was hidden in a deep hollow , usually there would be a marker post at the back .
Overall the course was in good condition but the greens could be better .
Enjoyable Round
-Booked in on a bank hol so speed of play was slower than usual (was to be expected) but still reasonable
- Great layout some very interesting holes, especially the 10th!
-Fairways pristine
-Greens looked amazing but far from it when played on, extremely slow, uneven cut that caused 'bobbling' when putting in certain areas, that said did improve slightly as the day wore on and dried out with the sun
-members and visitors very friendly during the round
-Friendly staff and decent pro shop
-excellent value (We got a 'hotdeal' for £12 per person through the Golfnow App)
Would definetely recommend, a testing well kept course with some really interesting holes, only downside were the greens today but hopefully would be back up to scratch on another visit, enjoyable round and would play again
Total Dissatisfied
When arriving I was informed they were only 16 hols open. No discount offered. Course conditions were appalling.
Wouldn't play or recommend this course.
Very enjoyable
Lovely course in great condition. Nice mix of holes and plenty with nice wide fairways along with a few trickier ones.
All in all an excellent round and great value for money.
Challenge
Great course to play in summer with 360 degree viiews of the locality and with some great risk and reward holes - trees can come into play if you get it wrong! Give it a go
Value for money
Tee'd off @12:30 conditions was very windy and a few heavy showers, holes 10 & 11 were closed and the 2nd was a winter green, a bit boggy in places due to the weather, on the whole really enjoyed it, some great holes and really good value for money, looking forward to playing it again when the course dry's out, Staff were very friendly.
Greens a bit slow maybe due to the time of year.
Fantastic course, but not advisable in the conditions we were playing in!
It was the 1time we played the course, but will not be going back until it is a lot dryer.
Mud bath...
