Too Open, Untidy Condition
For £36 this course is not providing enough value in comparison to other courses in the area. The course is very open and very easy to play, so would suit high handicappers and new starters to golf. Hardest holes are 1 and 18 with the rest pretty much a straight shot and a wedge/high iron. Greens were not in good condition and the fairways were bald in places and hadn’t been cut recently. Some par 3 tee boxes looked like someone had sneaked on at night and hit 100 balls at the green from all the divots left. The SI1 hole is a very short dogleg right and is the easiest SI1 hole ever. The 12th is a par 5 and I reached with a 3W and 9 iron and hit the pin thinking it was a close eagle but then my playing partner said it’s a par 5, so could have been an albatross !! My score was 78 off a 10 handicap and it could have been way better. Not a course for me or our society, but would satisfy someone who wanted an easy round and some nice food and drinks afterwards as the clubhouse and facilities were actually top notch.
The oaks golf course
This course was in very good condtion considering the heatwave we are having. It is an excellent venue small or large groups with all the facilities you would expect. Big course with wide fairways and plenty of bunkers and water features. Excellent staff especially the pro shop. Will return and play again.
Very good course
Great golf course, a good test with a lot of water features. Had an 'oaks burger' afterwards which was excellent. Well worth a visit!
This course is quite easy
I heard rave reviews about this course!! I was quite disappointed once I played the 13th hole (back 9/front 9 format), winter tees! I recorded my best number +12 over par 71 off a 22 handicap (didn't use due to playing on my own).
I found the fairways easy to read and avoid bunkers around areas players would lay up for 2nd shots. Putting greens were easy and straight forward ( not much to read off a straight put to the hole).
I hate criticising courses but for £25 I felt a little let down…maybe my expectations were heightened too much from what I heard about the course!
Good practice facility's and very friendly staff. Give it a go you might really like it.
