No negatives about this course or club. YES my round was slow but that was because of a couple of players ahead really taking their time, but I had time to kill so I didn't mind. Everyone was friendly and I loved every bit of it.
Recent upgrade to the bar and pro shop.
Played here before and left a review, however due to the upgrades I though I'd leave another.
I'll start with the downside: the pro shop cannot control entry to the course as it is too far away. But as all golfers are honest then they won't see anyone sneaking into the course without paying.
The bar has been renovated to a high standard and the fish tank looks great, the menu however is not for the casual golfer (no bacon butties) and God forbid they even have vegan options :) but it works and it's glass fronted so you can catch the other players hitting onto the 18th green (or in some cases the pond)
The driving range is out of the way and wayward shots shouldn't find thier way onto the 18th fairway.
Can't comment completely on the pro shop as it was receiving the final fit when I went in.
Still a good course and not too soggy underfoot.
Excellent greens. Tee boxes not great. Bunkers poor. 3 out of 5.
Teed off at 1pm. 2 ball. Made very good time up to the 9th hole but then we caught up with members. Pace of last 11 holes was much slower which was a wee bit frustrating. The greens were generally in very good condition. The tee boxes were pretty badly damaged and some of the bunkers were very poor. Sand was grubby, not raked, just poor quality. The 8th and 18th holes are very easy on the eye. There is a lot of work going on at The Ridge and this will much improve the overall facilities. All the staff that we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. We booked via GolfNow so paid £19 for 18 holes which is very good value. Completed the round by 4.45pm.
I used to play this course when the Ridge were in the same Veterans league as my club. It was never our favourite venue, and a few years ago they dropped out of the league. This was my first visit for over five years and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how improved the course was now. The fairways were in good condition, the greens were true and there was little rough. We had a very enjoyable round. The clubhouse is still being renovated, but I can see that it will be back to its original condition in the near future. We will certainly return next year.
Challenging course, Tree lined, requires good positioning of tee shots. In process of filling ponds. Club house improvements under way. All in all a good experience.
Course is great, shame about some of those using it
Adore the layout of the this place. Opportunity to bomb it, demands to place it, and options to shape it. It really does give a thorough, fair and fun test of golf.
One downside was the condition of the greens, although that is a little harsh as they had just undergone necessary seasonal maintenance. So not too concerned there.
The other was some of the members playing the role of a tractor, backing up the dozens of cars gathered behind them but steadfastly refusing to let anyone through. This was despite opening up at 5 hole gap in front of them. We (a 2 ball) were joining them on some tees before they had finished teeing off, but no sign of a wave through at all.
Disappointing behaviour from a few individuals left a stain on an otherwise wonderful course clearly intent on bringing the good times back.
Great Value for Money
You need to play good golf to score well. Each hole has it's own challenge to be mastered and the challenges are varied throughout the course. Overall an enjoyable experience even though I did not score well.
I chose this course for a client game based on a Friday morning. Evidently the new owners are spending a few quid. Great little course. Super value. Veteran members are a bit slow early on but once we got in front of them it was fine.
A good day to play
A cool dry day but very wet underfoot and muddy. Great course to play and excellent pace of play. Played in spring you get the apple blossom! Happy to play here and good off course facilities, range, putting and chipping area. Did not use the bar this visit.
Value for money
Challenging course in good condition and good pace of play - Not much more you could want
Relaxing golf day!
My friend and I had a lovely day at the Ridge golf club (again)! Starting early with a lovely breakfast and nice coffee then teed off slightly early as there was no one playing right in front or right behind us and it stayed like that all day, so no rush when we did loose the occasion ball! Course is very nice to play, good length course, not to hilly with a nice variety off holes and even tho it’s been so hot and some of the grass is yellow and dry the ground is still surprisingly soft. Then finished of with a nice cold refreshing cider at the bar and sat outside with a nice view! Will definitely play there again and definitely recommend to friends and anyone else looking for a nice course.
The course was in really good condition - particularly the greens - given how much sun / lack of rain there has been recently
New owners are doing a really good job of improving the course
Playing on Concrete
Course has potential but unfortunately the fairways and greens were like playing on concrete. The green couldn't receive a sand iron let alone anything longer. Plus the bunkers also didn't have much sand in them. Alot of the tees could also do with a bit of grass on them.
Give it a try!
New ownership and new ideas have made a tremendous difference to this beautiful course and there are many new plans in the offing. Club House and Pro Shop recently refurbished. Good driving range, putting greens and chipping area. Experienced Golf Pro in attendance. Lots of work has been done on the course: new signage, improved greens, clearing of rough areas. Will keep coming back.
One of my favourite course in Kent as it’ is very challenging . nice to see the new owners are making the necessary improvements the previous lost heart and the course became unloved. The course has the potential to be one of the top 5 In Kent and hopefully the new owners can take it to that level.
The weather was not the best but the welcome was warm and friendly. The pro shop was well stocked and the staff were excellent. They gave instructions to get to the first tee and provided me with the day's pin placements. They explained the layout and gave me the code to the changing rooms. I didn't even have to ask.
The tee boxes and fairways are in great nick and the greens were excellent. I really can't fault the place. It was worth every penny and I'd play it again without hesitation. If your looking for a good quality course and a challenge, this is it. Get yourself down there soon.
Played a three ball on a Saturday morning, course in excellent condition.
Greens lovely to putt on.
Staff very friendly, will definitely go back soon.
Very good value for money.
Quiet course enjoyable round
The course was very quiet the day we played. No one in front or behind which was nice. Good range of holes lots of bunkers. Course looked a little tired and fairways a little long and weedy in places. That said really enjoyed playing this course and would definitely play again.
