Great course full on anchors

Have played this multiple times when I'm back visiting family. Pro shop lass was very friendly and helpful., members less so. Greens as usual were in excellent condition and rolled perfectly, fairways less so having taken a battering from hot weather, most lies were on bare ground and the bunkers were like the fairway. Signs all over course advertising a 'good' pace of play as being 4hr 20 mins for a course thats only 6300 yards. Overly long time? Still clearly this message hasnt reached the members yet with the three groups in front that we watched all believing they were playing a PGA tour event in a force 9 gale. Seriously was embarrassing, I'm playing with 2 septuagenarian family members whose age exceeds their driving distance and we waited on EVERY shot, Half course queued up behind us and those ahead couldn't have cared less. Our round went nearer 5 hours. Good to see that members have written lots of nice reviews on here, just a shame they don't want you on the course. If I'd paid the £50 they want normally I'd have been fuming.

excellent value

hot deal enabled playing course for great value price of £20.The course seemed to be suffering from dry spring and slightly tatty in places. However it took nothing away from an excellent lay out without a single weak hole and in tip top condition would be right up there.

Green not in great nick

Overall 7 out of 10. The greens were not in great condition due to recent weather. They were in needs of some green grass and were pretty damp. There was one green on temp which we wasn't informed about meaning we had incorrect yardage.

Tee boxes are not particularly appealing, probably 2/3 nice ones.

Was stuck behind a 4 ball of two men and two ladies from the 1st tee and they finally let us through (two ball) at the 16th tee.

Should be in the English top 100

Lovely heathland course, the equal of nearby Woodbridge and Ipswich that are both in the English top 100. If you haven't played Thorpeness it is well worth a visit.

Great layout

Great layout, every hole was interesting and different. Some challenged your driving ability with narrow fairways on long par 4's, some challenged course management with well structured doglegs, and then some were more about the short game with heavily bunkered small greens on short par 4's.
Overall the greens were excellent for a course with a hotel and ran very true.

Coastal heathland course - not a links!

The course was not quite what I expected, but was a good layout and in great condition.
There are many interesting holes and I will definitely play it again.
