Good value
Golf was good, friendy golfers on course apart from one Director of the course who told two starter golfers to get off the red tees(these two lads had peviosly played with members who sanctioned their playing from red tees as they were just starting out in golf. They told us they no longer felt they could now play there. They have my sympathy that a bolshie lady director encountered them.
Gem of a course
First time playing here and didn't disappoint! Initially when we arrived was a little drizzly but didn't make much difference. The fairways were great and the greens were really quick and well looked after. The course has more par 3"s then an average but some of them are very challenging and especially one at ,237 yards. Overall a fantastic course, staff were nice and friendly and well worth the visit
Great little course
3rd time i’ve played upton, and enjoyed each round. Its a lot more challenging thsn i expected and if you aren’t hitting the ball that accurately it can be really unforgiving. That said with all the par 3’s it does give you a chance of shooting a good score but sadly i haven’t yet round there haha.
Course is in excellent condition considering the shocking winter we’ve had although the greens need a bit of sunshine & TLC over the coming months to get them in tip top condition. Overall really well designed and maintained course. Would definitely play again
Decent course, needs ground keeping.
Actually enjoyed this course, some really nice holes and plays very tight so need to think about your club choice off tee. Greens were in excellent condition for time of year and were interesting with very few straight putts. Staff and members were very friendly and helpful as we both had never played the course. A great halfway house with bacon butties was very welcome!
Downsides : The fairways are in desperate need of a cut and play like semi rough in places and the rough was horrible which made any errant tee shot very difficult to find when you add in the wet and the leaves. I suspect the wet weather has delayed this and am sure that if we played in summer it would be excellent given the quality of the greens. The winter mats are new but some don’t have homes to place wooden tees so if you’ve no plastic ones it takes driver out of the picture( actually probably helped ). The signposting of next holes is poor but thanks to the members being so helpful we found out way round fine. Overall I enjoyed and would play again but probably in drier conditions .I felt £40 was a bit steep given the playing conditions- would pay in summer but felt it was poor value for the condition of the course on the day.
Played better municipals.
Payed 20 quid which wasnt bad. But the greens and fairways are in a poor state! Needs better managment from the greenkeepers! It could be a lovely course! I wasnt a fan of crossing roads to get to next tees etc! A lot of par3s to play so good for your iron play! Overall i wouldnt go back as i think theres better courses to play even for 20quid!...
Poor condition & slow
Very disappointed. Last time here was brilliant. This time the course was dry, greens burnt and bare tee boxes with grass seed all over. A group of 3 ladies decided not lo let anyone through cresting a 4 group back log on a Tuesday afternoon. Won’t be back
Great course.
Considering it’s March, the course was in amazing condition. No puddles of mud, no squelchy fairways, greens were sandy but still fast. I’ve played golf all through winter and haven’t seen a course this well kept since September. Can’t wait to go back again, may even get a membership. Well done guys.
Very challenging tight holes, definitely play again
Nice course in tough conditions
One temporary green after such a deluge of rain was a great showing. Lovely layout and very friendly and helpful staff
Nice green, open course, perfect for mid handicappers
A nice wide and varied course with the greens being in very good condition.. Well maintained with a lovely clubhouse. This is on my list to play again.
Tight Course
Course is in good condition but the fairways are close to gether so accuracy is needed. There was a society in front of us so the pace of play was painfully slow (but this can happen anywhere). Overall a nice track and I’ll play it again
Great afternoon
Friendly staff, beautiful course in good condition
