Mediocre at best
Played after a pretty long dry spell for winter standards. Many courses are playing lovely but have to say uttoxeter was poor. So muddy and no efforts from course staff to manage or improve this any where. Bit of sand here and there goes a long way.
Pace of play was poor too, groups of older players going very slowly with no interest in allowing our two ball through at all.
Up and down
I hovered between a 3 star rating and a four star because I disliked the course but everyone was so friendly . I play golf a lot so I consider myself physically fit but this hilly course really tested me carrying my own bag. I also disliked the amount of blind holes. If you played in a competition the home team would have a definite advantage.
I began to hate ringing yet another bell to say the green is clear.
There were some very nice holes some great views and being next to the racecourse was fun
The overall condition of the course was fair but it is winter so my expectations weren’t high.
I can’t complain for what I paid and everyone I spoke to was very nice. I had hoped to eat there because years ago I had the best club sandwich of my life but my friend with the transportation wanted to shoot off. So I was a bit gutted about that
Good day good value but not in my top ten of local courses
Great course considering the time of year
Very impressed with the course, especially the greens considering it's still Winter. One temporary green in play which, but a great day out and will definitely be going back.
Slowwww play
Way too many people booked on the session took over 5 hours to get round with just 2 people in a group as it was that busy and wasn’t allowed to play through, 3 groups in front and behind us left early as it was that busy and got bored of waiting, very disappointed to see that they cram that many golfers in! Never seen this at any golf course before, also the groups before were leaving beer cans in the fairways just yards from the bins! Won’t be returning any time soon
Great value for money
We arrived at the course after 4 days of rain . The greens was brilliant nice pace and true . The first 3 holes are blind holes with a bell to ring but as long as you hit a straight ball your ok . After that the course opens up . The fairways was wet after a lot of rain and a lot of plugged balls . But over all it’s a great course and will play again
Good value for money
Really enjoyed today
Played before when the weather was bad raining and didn’t enjoy it
With the dry weather we’ve had recently it’s a really good course.
Just be aware that there is a lot of hills but didn’t ruin our experience.
Will play again
Great venue
First time playing uttoxeter golf course and what a superb course, very tight and tricky holes that require shots to be shaped either way. Lots of elevated greens and greens to hit down to, the greens were in lovely condition and rolled true. This course would require being played a few times to learn the best way to navigate round it ! A really fun course to play but requires a decent level of fitness as it’s very hilly. Absolute bargain at £16 and I will definitely be returning very soon. These are the type of gems you can find with golf now as opposed to spending £1500 on a single course membership, I’ve played a few courses around this area recently and there truly are some fantastic courses around Derbyshire.
I hope you try and enjoy this course as much as I did ( ps the 2nd is a 7 iron from the tee )
Uttoxeter golf course
Friendle staff at the pro shop. Nets to practise in. Putting green great. Every T's very good guides on the course layout, Fairway fantastic and the greens too.
Average
Pretty average course really quite short too, greens aren’t the best but not the worst I’ve played, Under £20 is a reasonable price to pay to play
Great course
Great course, great views.
Great pints on the 19th green too!
A good round
Despite the recent weather which has resulted in 7 temp greens the course was in pretty good condition and we had an enjoyable round. The staff in the shop and the bar were very welcoming, and the Pro had taken the trouble to call me ahead of the round to explain about the temp greens. Great service.
Fab course for the money
I've played Uttoxeter a few times. In winter the conditions are expectedly poorer but otherwise it's a good test. If you can play well here you can play well anywhere.
