I arrived at the course. It was shut due to the weather. I rang golf now and they put me in a waiting cue. Gave me the option for a call back. Which I haven’t received. So all in all this site is not very good. And I won’t be booking with them again
Wet and boggy
So wet and boggy, should have been closed, also only 14 holes open
Vicars Cross
On our arrival the pro showed very little interest in me being in his shop , We bought some range balls but had to go back to him as the card wouldnt work properly ,
We started our round on time the fairways were very muddy and wet that i know is not the courses fault , The greens overall were fine and in quite good condition , They main problem was the amount of people allowed on the course with people hitting balls all over the place no shouts at least three times we were nearly hit by flying balls , Over all it took us four hours to play 13 holes as we reached a par 3 we walked off as there was already 3 groups on this hole , The bar was closed on our return , We shall not be going back .
Vicars Cross
Played an afternoon round 4ball pro shop greeting was superb as we crossed the border from Wales and forgot our covid19 masks, Weather was horrendous very very wet we were actually amazed the course was open fairways hardly held any water although the rough was a wee bit tough . Greens over the first 5/6 holes were holding a little water but still quick and pretty true. As for the rest of the round the rain eased then eventually stopped and the golf was great tee boxes on every hole superbly maintained . Popped in to the bar for a couple at the end and the lad behind the bar very helpful eve offering a bucket of ice for one of us who unfortunately went over badly on hos ankle walking down to the 18th tee. Would recommend anybody to play this lovely matured golf course. Steve
Good parkland course, tree lined and easy to get out of position without accurate tee shot, greens not bad ,overall worth a visit
Excellent
Probably has the best greens of any club in the area. The layout is varied, course undulates a bit but not too tough of a walk. pace of play was excellent despite being busy. Highly recommend.
Course should have been shut 100%
Course itself I’m sure is fine as played a few years ago - However the course was a bog. I could hardly get my electric trolley down the first fairway. The course should been shut. As a mark of respect to the course itself I’ve got no idea why we were allowed to play. We played 9 holes and had to walk in.
Good Parkland Course
Course in great condition interesting layout, plenty of tree lined fairways if you stray with the driver.Definately worth a try.
Rick
amazing greens
Played Vicars Cross a few times. Played twice this year, the whole course seems to flow well. The greens were particularly good with good speed and roll.
19th hole offered a great local beer and good food. Will be back,
Managed to get a hot deal for 25 pound a round at Vicars Cross. Never played the course before but heard good things and it didn’t disappoint at all. Staff really friendly and before the round had a full English which was very reasonably priced. Fairways, greens, tees the lot, in perfect condition. Was quiet being a bank holiday Monday so at some points felt like we had the course to ourselves. Couldn’t really fault the place other then only being one par 3 on the front 9 but it made up for it on the back 9. Great finishing hole also and will definitely being coming back. Very happy we got to play it in the summer.
Society Woes
Nice course, but prior to our booking a large society had teed off. They where out of a days enjoyable golf with some of the members only previously played a few rounds of golf. Result we had to wait on very tee, on every fairway shot and on every green. Result a 5 hour round. Not enjoyable. The course should, as others do, when taking a society booking use course marshals to ensure they maintain a reasonable rate of play. 5 hours not!!
Very Muddy Fairways
I would only play this course in dry conditions in future as the very muddy fairways spoilt the days golf,as finding your ball was extremely difficult and the walking conditions also bad. I think on the day that we played the course should have been closed.
Course in great condition
The course was in great condition despite the heavy rain in recent days. The greens were in perfect condition. The staff were very welcoming. Will definitely return to play this course again.
First time at vicars cross
First impressions, great layout, fairways were clean cut and fast, greens we're very adaptive and easy to read. I must of turned up on a comp day because the speed of play was very very slow, apart from that the course was crisp and clean, each of the hazards had a rescue stick. On the tee, ball cleaners bins, cloths and divot repair kits.
The course had some xcross overs but as long as you we're paying attention it was fine.
The club house has everything you need including a nice pint to finish with.
Great Course
Played in afternoon. Course fairly busy but no hold ups for our 2 ball. Parkland course in great condition-some tricky holes-greens excellent. Will play again.
