Disappointed
Reknowned as a course that stays open when others close and unless it's under snow the playability is good.
Well that course should have been shut, terrible under foot diseased greens, and on arrival to be told 2 holes were closed was unacceptable, kitchen out of food, horrible coffee and woefully outdated facilities. Was expecting lovejoy or the dingles to be members.
Won't be going back complete waste of time.
Excellent course, great variety of holes with some breathtaking views. Superb condition and very challenging. Lots of fairways have sloping lies so makes second shots hard though. One of my favourite courses and good value for money.
Great course, good selection of holes with something different on most holes. The course is in great condition. Doesn’t get too busy so no hold ups, some picturesque holes and great views of surrounding countryside. Good value, enjoyable round of golf.
Epic
No two holes are the same! Amazing views! Fantastic greens and course layout
A shame
Played on a fri afternoon. After the drive there through country lanes and farmers tracks the first 9 was ok apart from the greens being spiked ( massive holes and uneven)and unplayable. A few slow players in front we decided to play the front 9 again to get round in our usual 3 1/2 hrs instead of the 5 we thought it might take. Price was £30 which I thought was £15 too much. Would not play again in a rush. Better courses in this area for much less.
The Hill to Bury
Known locally as the hill to Bury due to its sloping fairways up an down and left to right. A challenging course although not too long. Course was in very good condition considering the amount of hot weather we have had recently.
Would definitely recommend it as a "to try a different course".
Walmersley
Great course with some tough holes thoroughly enjoyed our round
Excellent
Great course
Some challenging holes
Awesome views
Good as usual
Second time in course and it did not disappoint. Course in great condition, but greens a bit hard. That said no rain for several weeks. Only annoying point we were approached by a player teeing off 15 minutes after us saying they were in a comp and basically not to hold them up! Felt a bit rushed though we were generally 2 holes ahead.
Didn't expect much - But got blown away!!!
Honestly, being a course up on a hill with a small clubhouse and small shop, driving up to it I didn't expect much at all! However once I saw the course I was blown away! It was an absolute pleasure to play, with an amazing 1st hole too a par 3 around 185 yards off an elevated tee box. All the holes had an aspect of challenge to them but also enjoyment!
Looking at actually joining now I was that impressed!
Hilly but nice
Good challenging course with great views of the surrounding area.
Hilly in places and have to cross the M66 twice over a foot bridge in the early part of the round.
Course is in a rural area and access is via a narrow country lane.
Great Challenge, warm welcome
Some challenging holes without being too outlandish. Lovey scenery, greens and bunkers in decent condition. Some nice contrasts between the rugged uplands and lower rolling fields, with some short but challenging par 3s in the mix.
A few blind tees but schematics on tee box helped. Contrary to other reviewers we found signage to next tees was quite straightforward but we did have eyes on the preceding party. Quite a lot of climbing involved so be ready for a well earned beer at the end!
Decent course
The course itself played well and the greens were running nicely. Would reccomend getting a buggy if possible as the course is quite hilly.
Both staff and members were friendly and polite.
Great variety of holes
First time we have played this course, it was in really good condition and the greens were really tricky to read, it is quite hilly and one of us are in his 70s and did feel it .
