Over priced
I am assuming that they are currently trying to fix certain parts of the course. Where the greens were the standard it was great but there were far too many temporary greens and tees, reducing the par considerably. I would not mind this if the price was changed but it was certainly not worth the price we paid.
I have played 5 public courses in the last week. This was the most expensive and sadly the poorist.
The work going on need to be more clearly articulated
There is an awful lot of work going on at the course which I am sure will
make the course better in time. As it stands though the temporary holes are not in a good condition and the yardages are not accurate. On the plus side the new driving range and pro shop are excellent
Not worth the money whilst Temporary Course
I've played Wexham in the past and it's a decent course however at the moment it's a tempory course which is a mismatch of the old 18 hole course, old 9 hole course and some temporary short holes.
As things stand it is way over priced for £25 and you can get better for less.
Hopefully this will be rectified in the not too distant future and the course will be good again.
Very poor
One of the worst courses I’ve played. Terrible greens especially on the front 9.
Needs a real tidy up and the course management is terribly poor. A lot of work needed
Temp layout a letdown
First off: big disclaimer. I know they are undertaking some major rebuilding work so several of the full length holes have been taken out of play and 18 holes have been concocted from the remaining untouched holes. They have actually done quite a good job in terms of the design of the layout, but as a result there are a few temporary "greens" which are just unputtable. The pace of the other greens is also very variable which can make for a very frustrating experience. Overall the layout is now quite short, but can still provide an interesting challenge if you want to plot your way round with your middle irons. Otherwise many of the par 4s can be driven or reached with a drive and a wedge.
All in all, I think the temp layout is ok, but the real sting is that they're still charging full whack to get round there. I got a hot deal for £15 which was good value but I wouldn't want to be spending £25+ for these 18 holes, not unless they sort the greens situation out. The new layout is going to be great from a look at the plans, so perhaps best to hang on until they've finished if you want a full-round experience. Otherwise for a quick practice and a walk it's ok.
Staff very friendly in the pro shop which has already had the renovation treatment.
Not played here for well over 20 years, the course has changed quite a bit. Not sure if it's changed for the better, but I enjoyed my round, the course was in pretty good condition which made it better.
Will be excellent soon
Lots of course redesigning going on. We knew that and this review is based on that knowledge.
The club wants to develop as a championship course and need to play again. Some holes are untouched and thye were very good.
Course in terrible conditions
They may be in the process of turning this in to a championship course but it seems they forgot to think about the current one. The tee boxes were appalling and the greens were even worse; I've played on fairways with shorter grass than some of them and others had more sand than the bunkers.
They may be significant;y reducing the price to try and reflect this but most of the greens are virtually unplayable.
I would not recommend this and I won't be going back.
Some good some bad.
The course has a nice layout with some enjoyable holes. Saying this it’s let down by the inconsistency of the standards. Some greens are more than acceptable for this price range (1st hole) others are a shambles. It’s like you’re playing two different courses at times, even the sand is different throughout the round. Has potential to be a good track at the price point but unfortunately not there yet.
Adequate
Course on GolfPad didn't pick up the temporary layout which feels tight and short. No driver needed, indeed, nothing more than a 5 iron of most par4s. I assume the full layout is more interesting and challenging.
Shortened course should have shortened price
Normally a great course however as work is being carried out for the Championship Course, the blue course has been drastically shortened. This resulting in un-usable tee boxes and temporary greens which has longer grass then my garden. An ok course to play on but to still charge £28-£30 per round is a rip off
I wish I had read the reviews before playing
