Great course
Booked this course for location mainly as travelling North and wanted a round near A1 2/3rds to Thropton. Great price and perfect tee time. Pace of play excellent and course in great condition. Shot one over my handicap so was happy. Will return if passing.
Course in good condition and fair challenge for most golfers
I have only played this course a few times but it has always been in good condition there is good bounce on the fairways so you get a good carry green are emasculate even pace a cross all 18 holes. A fair challenge for the majority of golfers
Good course in good condition
The course was in good condition for time of year and only a couple of winter greens. Very few boggy areas
Terrible weather nice course
Enjoyed the round, course has an interesting layout with some tight drives and with lots of trees at times adding stretch to your shots.- got soaked
Spot on
Great condition, interesting and challenging in places. Enjoyed as a high handicap player.
Excellent Round
We have played Whickham a few times now and this round has had to be the best, the course is in fantastic condition and all greens consistent. Staff and members are friendly and the clubhouse is welcoming, we will return
Very well maintained course
Course was in very good conditions particularly the greens. Course offers a challenge for golfers of different abilities. The shortest par 3 is over 150 yards. not too hilly so you can walk the course
Loved it. Tranquil and some stunning views
I played this course on a lovely frosty morning so until the course started to dry out the ball did not run as far but what a fantastic course to play. On arrival there was nobody around(all closed) so I started my round in total tranquillity. An uphill start leads to some quality first holes although it can be a little confusing as to where to go next once the greens had dried out I found they were very true and challenging. The rough was very generous with barely a blade of grass above 4 inches the course was generally in very good condition. Very hilly but well worth the visit although I wouldn't want to play on a windy North East day ! Would highly recommend
Will Be Back, But!
Very nice course , Tree lined with some Great views. Course in very good condition for time of year, Greens true considering been holatined. Lot of Doglegs and few Blind shots where Tee shot vital. The reason I look forward to going back.'BUT' Only downside was we Tee'd off at 10am on a Tuesday and we followed a Seniors comp around so play very slow as you can imagine.
Great course
Had a great morning at the course and thoroughly enjoyed every moment, course is in good condition, only one downside is that the course is not properly synced with gps watches.
Many thanks and I will surely play again in the near future.
Excellent course
Played a 2 ball in the rain course was in excellent shape and greens where some of the best we've played on very testing course with plenty of blind shots and a few good hills to fall up man in golf shop was very friendly and we will definitely be back
Good variety of holes
I like this course as even tho it's not overly long ,there are a few holes where driver is not an option and you have to plan your shots. Course in very good condition , good layout
Great days golf
3rd time I have played this course and I always enjoy it. One of my favourite local courses
Beatiful well kept, scenic course
Brilliantly week kept fairways, greens and bunkers. The greenkeeping star do an excellent job here. Great course with some lovely scenery overlooking Newcastle and Gibside.
Excellent variation
First time I've played the course since the rearrangement of the course, it troubled my GPS from the third to 6th holes, but that was a trivial inconvenience.
The course was in fantastic condition for late April after a wet winter.
Excellent use of the natural lay of the land and a good variation of hole
types.
Our winner on the day had 33 Stapleford points playing off 10, many of
the holes leave you with a short iron if you hit a definite enter drive, poor drives aren't always punished badly, for example, I hooked my tee shot from the first and sat in the rough on the wrong side of the 2nd fairway, although I had a 3 ft high wall to negotiate, I was still able to reach the green with my second shot.
A definite contender for next year.
This downside isn't connection Ted to Golf Now or Tees Off Times, but for years the club wouldn't have us as a golf society on a Sunday, but a group of 6 of us were welcomed with open arms.
Great value for money and as I say, a definite contender for next year
