Great condition for time of year
Very picturesque course on the coast. Greens were in good condition apart from a couple which had sections relaid. Not sure what it would be like when it’s busy as a lot of the holes cross each other. Especially the 6th and 12th where teeing could be a bit dodgy for hitting someone. Highlight though was 14 onwards. That section of the course was lovely and a great way to finish
windy Day at Whitburn
Windy day at the course but condition of course at time of year very good so still enjoyed the round will be back in future
Friendly place lovely course
Really enjoyed my round, the staff and other players were really friendly and extremely helpful. Fantastic views, and although very busy, the pace of play was still very good. Thoroughly enjoyed my round.
Slow and congested
Having read a lot of positive reviews, me and my playing partner were very disappointed with our experience at whitburn. Firstly, it must be said that the layout of the course is terrible. Many holes are simply back and forwards with tees close to greens and lots of waiting for tees or greens to clear. I realise that there's only so much you can do with fitting an 18 hole golf course onto a relatively small piece of hillside. However there could certainly be more thought given to the positioning of tee boxes or even shielding of them, or defining different holes with trees or fencing.
The pace of play was about the slowest I have encountered, but to be fair this was just caused by 1 horrendous 4ball with everyone else stacked up behind them getting more and more angry.
The greens were in pretty poor condition. Lots of sand, lots of bobbling putts. It is early November but the weather has been decent with the greens on other local courses in much better condition.
In summary, not remotely worth £17 for a round and I'm totally confused by the fact that this place has so many good reviews.
a good experience
Enjoyed the day booking and timings all first class unfortunately the greens had just been hollow tined but this is to be expected in October. Would do it again
Booked through tee off times the course was in excellent condition some brilliant views, staff were friendly and helpful definitely go again
Enjoyable experience. Friendly welcome, great views of the coast across to Tynemouth priory and South Shields. Course itself was in good condition in view of ongoing hot Weather, fast true greens on the day.toilet signs need improvement but aside from that 2 happy people.
Finally decided to try this course, wish we had done so earlier, at first sight looked reasonably easy, but almost every hole was challenging the staff and members very welcoming. We will be be back and hopefully our society will give it a go.
Good course. Very open and the rough was down due to the hot dry weather. Greens in good condition with some interesting borrows.
The run of Par 5's in the middle is a bit boring but made up for by the finishing holes across the road by the sea. Stunning views.
Course in excellent condition for the time of year and the previous. Weather we've had .
Canny course, friendly players.
Really like Whitburn. The course is well laid out. As you'd expect being on the coast it tends to be windy but that doesn't spoil the enjoyment.
Good value for money. Has good drainage , always seems to be windy so has you thinking of shots in windy conditions .would definitely play there again
Whitburn Golf Club
I found this course quite flat on most holes some quite challenging some quite interesting the last few holes were on the coastline which was super, the greens and fairways were superb i shall play again as i enjoyed my game.
An all year round gem
As it had rained heavily overnight, I was expecting some standing water. It was also very windy on the day so we didn't think conditions were conducive for a good score. After getting acclimatised to the wind, by about the third hole, we started to relax and I have to say thoroughly enjoyed the round. The course was amazingly dry after all the overnight rain and played beautifully. I play off 18 and had never played it before. My partner, 25 handicap, was a local so had played it many times. We both ended up with 34 points which, with the gale force winds, felt more like 40 points.
Stunning views and a really challenging well kept coastal gem.
The course was in great condition fairways and greens were excellent really enjoyed the day the whole procedure booking through tee-off times was really easy I would recommend Whitburn Golf course.
Really enjoyed our round at this course considering weather course was in good condition
Great course, lovely staff (the chap in the store stayed back 15 minutes to guarantee me a trolley) and I managed to hit my first sub 100.
Decent course but seems a little
It's a decent course some cracking views especially the back 9. I just feel that some of the holes are too close together on the front 9, holes 8 through to 11.
Very welcoming course. Well payed out and the greens where spot on.
Nice friendly golf course
Nice course in good condition.Pro was very helpful and friendly.Played with my wife who enjoyed the course on a lovely summers day.
