Wirral Golf Club
What a Great short track, makes you think your way round. With tight fairways on a lot of holes. The greens in great condition on our day. The pin positions very tough ,but we all really enjoyed the course and would return and recommend to others
Wirral Golf Club
The course is on the short side 5180 yards and there isn't any par 5 holes the biggest hole is 422 yards. The layout is excellent and the condition of the course made for a great round of golf. The fairways are forgiving and the greens were in top condition for the time of year.
The staff gave excellent customer service too.
The only negative is the carpark is on the small side and I had to park in a side road.
course played very short, holes very close together but in good condition for time of year
Windy Wiral
Nice course. Fairways a bit muddy in places. Greens good wind was a bit on the strong side but in general a good course.
Fun and good value
Assistant pro was very helpful in helping me get round as quick as poss by driving me to the 10th tee. Short but enjoyable track testing your strategy and approach shot skills. The greens rolled nicely. Pleasant surroundings and a nice clubhouse where you can have a well-earned pint and watch people finish off a nice 18th hole. On hot deal prices, not much to dislike!
Wirral Golf Club
I will be back.....it was fun to play a course with such history. The pro took time to show me around and explained the course layout. Conditions were excellent. Shorter course, but with tight fairways then add in wind and it turned out to be the perfect challenge. Great value!
Short Course but Great Value
Played on a clear, warm day in October. Few players on the course so we got around with no pressure from behind and no waiting for players ahead of us. The course was in excellent condition with fast greens and super teeing areas. The course is a par 68 but has enough interesting holes in a heathland setting for all levels of player. Didn't use the off-course facilities as the bar prices are very high. Cheaper in the local pub.
Little gem
Played today great challenge on some tight fairways, some difficult par3 and best feature was every green was in top condition... Really good round will go again a bargain £15 via tee off times
Excellent Experience!!!
The course, people and weather were all fantastic. Good pace of play and in excellent condition. Staff were all very friendly and the food was good too.
Short but narrow heathland course with good greens.
Played in the heat wave in late May 2018. Course is short and flat which helped. It was in better shape than a month previously. However, both times we got behind a ladies medal competition which slowed us down. Having said that the people we met on and off the course were friendly, the bar facilities were great and at £12 per round it was excellent value. We will play at this course again very soon.
Challenging but very tight
Enjoyed playing at this course. Very challenging with holes that really make you think. The right choice of club is essential. The course was busy and as it’s not very long there was quite a lot of waiting. We paid £25 which I believe is not value for money. Would play here again but would never pay more than £17
Short but interesting heathland course
Played the course in April 2018 not having played it for 30 years. It is a short course (par 68) but the lay out is interesting and you will need to be straight off the tee. Having said that the heather has been thinned as have some of the wooded areas that line the fairways. The course was busy on the day which meant slower play than usual as we were were behind a ladies competition.
Other players and staff we spoke to were very friendly and the course was in great condition considering the amount of rain that had fallen recently.
As for value, our 18 holes cost £9 each, which was the same as two pints of shandy in the 19th!
Highly recommended and will return soon.
P.S. The course is now Wirral Golf Club - the "Ladies" was dropped about ten years ago in line with modern thinking.
Great social golf
Great social golf course very dry for time of year compared to other local courses staff very friendly and helpful will definitely play again
Rain affected
Received text from assistant pro
No trolleys allowed
Didn’t say two holes closed and quite a few greens were winter ones
Some holes were lovely
I’ll probably try again in summer
The reason I chose the course was because the drainage was good
Oh dear
Thanks anyway
Thank you for your comments and we hope that you will try the course again in the summer months. We will take note that you were not given fuller details of the condition of the course at the time however Wirral GC is one of the few courses that has remained open throughout the severe winter and has been able to offer golf whereas other local courses have been closed.
wet under foot
the course was in great condition although wet with some temp greens an off mats but that is to be expected at this time of year, better to phone first as we turned up with trollies only to find it was carry bags only
Thank you very much indeed for your very positive comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your round. We are in the process of putting daily updates on the website as to the suitability of trolleys or whether it is carry only.
We will have buggies very shortly.
We look forward to seeing at Wirral G.C. again soon.
Great Course
Although 2 holes are closed this was still a great course given the recent weather. Just wished I had been told that the 2 holes were closed.
Wirrals Hidden Gem
This golf course is a little gem hidden away. It was a pleasure to play here. One thing is keeping the ball straight if you can manage that you'll enjoy your game. If your off the fairway tbe gorse and heather can come into play. Excellent course
Thank you very much for your very positive comments which we greatly appreciate. The course has been busy during April as it is one of the few courses that remains open on Wirral even in the heavy rain. That particular day was a 4BBB a format that does take some time. We look forward to welcoming you again to the club very soon. We are introducing buggies in May.
