5 hour +
We were a two ball and it took over 5 hrs for the round, no Marshall to speed play up,I the course played well,
Course is good but greens were hard
It's a great course that rewards good shots but punishes bad. You need to think about your shot off the tee. If you're feeling confident then go for the tiger line. If not then play safe otherwise you'll invariably end up in the sand. Strategically positioned hazards.
Greens were very hard on the day when most other courses have been soft??
Lovely but unforgiving course
Great fun course to play on a sunny afternoon, however, if you stray even just slightly off the fairway, you'll be spending a good 5-10 minutes finding your ball in the dense rough.
Great value for money which is perfect for us university students and staff are very helpful and friendly.
Good venue, but not in great condition. Pace of play massive issue here!
As per the title, this is a decent venue and have played it before and it’s been a good knock. However on this occasion the course was in poor condition. Fairways long, green recently ‘done’ and very bobbly and inconsistent. Rough just off the fairways penal. It’s a good track, and even though it’s been a tough spring I’d expect it to have recovered better than this by early May.
Having said all that, you could forgive it, especially given the very reasonable green fee (sub £20) if it wasn’t for the pace of play. Comfortably over 5 hours for a 2 ball isn’t acceptable under any conditions. Second time I’ve experienced such a slow round here. Needs a starter and a Marshall to better manage pace of play, if you come on the wrong day it will ruin your round (I’ve been on quieter days and not had any problem - it can be done)!
Will try again later in the summer, hopefully they will have turned the course round. I’m not sure they are ever going to do anything about the pace of the round, which is a real shame.
5 Hours to play 15 holes
Pace of play was shocking, especially when two holes where closed and a third hole was only part open temp tee & green so didn't bother playing that hole, won't be going back again until the spring course was waterlogged, 5 Hours to play 15 holes is a joke
Course was very quiet so great for us
I good condition although length of off fairway grass resulted in a couple of unexpected lost balls.
Just to slow after hole 10 and completely jammed at 13
Value
Excellent value for a long testing course for all abilities. Catering prices highish but it is a hotel. Course in good condition with well running greens for time of year.
Wokefield park
got held up by a couple of slow 2 balls in front but this was the first time in 5 visits I have experienced this , otherwise the course is very well maintained and challenging, friendly staff and good facilities all for a bargain price using teeofftimes.
Good Course & Value
First time playing the course, we only played 9 holes trying to get a few holes in after work.
Course was in good/average condition, based on pricing charged I was happy with the value.
I would suggest if you are looking for flexible tee times and good value this course is a great option. It isn't the best condition course or prettiest setting but overall a good option for a quick 9 or if you are looking for a good value course.
Oh yes, £26 for a buggy isn't good value.......
Very average
Course was ok but much better value can be got elsewhere. Good practice facilities but no real bar for before and after your round. Need to use the main hotel bar. Charged £2:40 for a small bottle of coke my club charge £1. Condition of the course was ok greens with lots of pitch marks and not very well manicured all a little scruffy really. Lacked a little variety with lots of similar holes which I suppose is to be expected on a relatively flat bit of land. I'm happy to play any course once but won't be rushing back here.
Good length course, rough a bit difficult
Enjoyed my game, only reason for not giving 5 stars all round is that I thought the fairways were a bit thick.
You could easily loose your ball in the first cut and it's definitely lost if you go in the thick rough, and there is plenty of thick rough.
Overall though I had a good day.
Good value Challenging Course
First time at Wokefield Park. Won't be last. Long compared to other courses which I have played - 6500 yards off yellow tees. Plenty of sand, water, and more dog-leg holes than I've experienced before - all add to a decent challenge. Fairways and greens not in especially great condition, but true enough. 4 hours to go round - not quick but expected to be longer due to length / difficulty.
What an amazing deal
Great greens challenging course.we played 18 holes in under 3hrs on a full length chanpions hip course.it was in fantastic condition.Value cannot be matched anywhere else Shooting myself in the foot but if you play anywhere this year try this place...
Good course BUT SO SLOW
Lovely course but it took 5 1/2 hrs queuing on every tee. They just allow too many tee off times. Queued on every single tee. Played this course 3 times now and always the same. Saw several golfers give up as they went round.
A hot but pleasant round at Wokefield Park
Wokefield Park is always a good place to have an away day. The course was in good nick with good true greens. The only downside is the fact that, being a part of an hotel complex the drinks are rather pricey.
