Nice course, no drainage
I think the course has so much potential but there is just very little in the way of drainage and all the fairways were like walking in marshland. To be fair the greens were decent and no water on them. You can see why it’s so cheap, barely saw any staff. Not played it in the summer yet which would probably be decent but don’t think I’ll bother any other time of year again.
Tough
Very wet, long and windy
Fairways very woolly so no run on ball.
Would be a lot easier in better weather
I’m not a long hitter, so struggled to get on a lot of par fours in two
Overall good value though.
A great venue, a pleasant surprise
We booked 2 3 balls for a Sunday morning match not expecting the greatest course as the cost was so cheap.
We were pleasantly surprised by the venue, the clubhouse and the pro shop. All are at a very good standard and the tee times were not stacked so tightly that you were always waiting behind someone.
Number 1
My favourite golf course in Berkshire. Challenging and exciting from hole 1 to 18. Brilliant.
Great value
Been working in reading for the week and found this course searching golf now app.
The course is in great condition given the time of year. Credit to the ground staff.
Will definitely return for my golf fix when in the area.
Ian Franklin tee time (prepaid)
On the 2nd January I arrived at the golf course (Wokefield Park) to find it closed. I prepaid through Golf Now and now require a refund. Very poor indeed
Good golf
Second time at this course. The course is very well maintained and good value for money. Pace of play was slow at times but was allowed to play through eventually. The bar although expensive had good food and a variety beverages available. I will come back in the near future.
It’s cheap but lacks some class
The course offers a round of golf at a very reasonable price but it’s a slightly forgettable course which is tired in places.
I understand we have had a lot of rain recent but the fairways were not cut and the first cut of rough was long. With a bit more care it could be a nice place.
16th is probably the nicest and most memorable hole.
Waterlogged
This course is unplayable and completely waterlogged.
It should have been closed but I suspect they didn’t want to have to refund everyone
Best value for money in the area
The course still feels quite young and sparse in places, overall condition was okay. Greens had moss in places and tee boxes had seen better days.
But with all that being said, it’s great value for money. If you are looking to play a course for below £30 at a weekend morning tee off time, then this should be one to definitely consider. There are some good holes, it’s still testing and a good day out.
I didn’t sample the food so can’t comment, a small driving range is there which is great and generous putting green.
5 ball slowing the play
Play was so slow… had a 5-ball in front
Yes a five ball….
Not acceptable in golf
The course need people out monitoring the play
Good value.
It was good value at £20 to play a long 18 hole course with well-laid out hazards on many of the holes. Greens were in good condition.
But it was quite muddy - better than many courses but not as good as some.
Will definitely go back in dry conditions
Hotel golf…
Played here a few times and really enjoy the layout. Plenty of interesting holes and good variety of length. Tee boxes are pretty ropey and the greens has been tined (fair enough in Autumn) but the state of the holes was inexcusable and certainly did not help my already incompetent putting!! For less than £20 though, it has to go down as very good value and we got round in good time, even as a two-ball.
