About
Surrounded by rolling hills, Cherokee Valley Golf Club has a beautiful setting and temperate climate that draws visitors from all over the state. It feels peacefully tucked away but the course is only minutes from downtown Greenville's attractions. The challenging layout features eleven lakes and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. The dramatic elevation changes provide even more challenges. It is seemingly a very intimidating golf course but the wide fairways and clean rough make it much more forgiving than it looks. The fifth hole is the golf course's signature. There is a beautiful cascading waterfall on this hole as well as a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Cherokee Valley G.C. is known almost as much for its practice facility as it is for the golf course. The popular, state-of-the-art facility includes a triple-tiered driving range, two putting greens, and a chipping green.

The course was in remarkably good condition for late spring. Overall, a great experience.
Fun course with beautiful views - a couple goofey holes
The course was in very good shape. The greens were fast, smooth and had very few non-repaired ball marks which made the greens great to play on. The greens had lots of slopes valley and undulations. The views were great, especially from hole #8. There is tons of elevation changes all around the course.
There were a lot of blind shots (hole #15 is awful and straight out of a putt putt course (blind tee shot where you can not even see the fairway, you have not target to shoot at and you have no idea where the green is located).
Overall the course conditions were excellent and the course is a ton of fun as well as an EXCELLENT value. I wish they would take a bulldozer to holes 13 and 15, but other than those two holes the course is great. Go play and enjoy!!!
Fun course, cool layout
Cherokee Valley has a really cool layout, w/ no 2 holes the same. Fast, sloping greens, & plateau greens, make this course much tougher than the slope rating shows. Still very fun trying to play it.,& fees are great!
Interesting course
The course was in very good shape. The greens were quick and very undulating, hard to read the first time playing. The views were very nice. there were a lot of blind shots, again tough for 1st time playing. The round took 5 and 1/2 hours, had to wait on every shot. I would like to play it again but not at that slow pace.
Who does their scheduling?
This is a great track and in amazing condition. The only problem is that it took 4 1/2 hours from my tee time to hole 15, when I had to quit due to lack of time. The scheduled a shotgun start, second tournament and regular tee times, all at the same time. We had 5 foursomes waiting to tee off on #1 and people still making the turn. They finally had our group tee off on the back. This was fine for about 5 holes and then we sat around.
I understand you need to get traffic and all but they way over did it and I propably won’t play there again. I can’t afford 6 hour rounds.

Majestic, challenging course
A great challenge to experienced golfers. Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. An awesome staff.
Extremely Slow
Extremely slow pace of play and was told this was normal. Turned sprinklers on the 17th fairway while still playing.

Busy, slow with no ranger
The course was in great shape but very busy. There were several groups ahead of me hitting 2 or 3 balls looking for the perfect shot then spent 5+ minutes searching for golf balls after hitting bad shots. If they would have had a ranger on duty, the ranger would have been able to keep the pace of play at a moderate pace.

Challenging short course
Great course for the price considering the long drive, the driving range was roped off for a members area and another for guest. The guest section was beat down to dirt so I jus jumped to the members area lol since there was no one there. I was forced to join with fellow golfers who's skill levels where less than stellar. I enjoyed the company but waiting 10+ min between shots ( helping look for lost balls for others in my group) really put a damper on my round and feel. Front nine tight and challenging with many blind shots, back nine more open and forgiving. I highly recommend bringing friends close to your skill level for a smooth flowing round. I will definitely be back for another crack at the valley.

Very nice Track but needs better pace of play
This course was in solid condition and the greens were quick and held a good shot. The greens are smaller which I like so your accuracy is tested. Tee to green a challengeing layout. The staff was very friendly but you only saw them around the clubhouse. No starter at the first tee on a Saturday morning which was confusing to all and did not see a player assistant on the course to maintain pace of play. Over all I like the course and would go back but they need to address the pace of play.

Beautiful and challenging but ruined by 5 hour round
My wife and I took a 46 minute drive to try the course. We were impressed by the beauty and challenge. But a foursome of women playing a "best Ball" match were oblivious to the rest of the players and took 5+ hours to play their round. The entire course was backed up and at lest one group quit after the 16th hole. There was no marshal to regulate play. This gives me pause as to whether I will return.

Challenges abound
A very challenging layout, long from the back tees. Some quirky holes with blind shots and small landing areas. Excellent condition.
Nice course in the foothills
Played here on trip to South Carolina and was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful scenery and a narrow but fair course. Lots of elevation changes and blind holes. Will definitely play there again.
