Trestle Creek Golf Resort - Jack Pine/Creekside Course
The Alberta Golf Tour was holding one of their tournaments at this venue so I didn't mind making the 3 hour drive to participate.
The course takes advantage of the natural setting and some changes in elevation to create a challenging course. Designed by nature as much as by man, players of every skill level will find a challenge for every club in their bag. Trestle Creek offers great variety with large, flat tees, rolling landscapes which includes a few ponds and stream water hazard holes and bunkers. Finding the rough isn't too punishing.
All the greens are large and multi-tiered. They were rolling consistently throughout the course. This day the pins were cut exactly where you'd expect to find pins cut on tournament Sunday, in all the tough places. I did well to curse only one green.
Fifty four competitors participated and from all accounts everyone agreed that the course was in exceptional playing condition. Staff in both the pro shop and restaurant were friendly and made you feel welcome.
A casual round of golf at Trestle Creek can be a test for even the most seasoned player.

Always worth the drive
Trestle Creek is always worth the drive. The course is in good condition with the exception of a few rough spots on some of the greens and fairways. The course is not very old and is still maturing but very playable. The speed of the greens was quick but sticky, you had to give it an aggressive stroke as the ball came to a quick halt if you did not hit it firm enough. But be careful, too hard and they would run by quite a bit. Kudos goes out to the pro shop staff. We had a 9 a.m. tee-time but had flat tyre on the way out to the course. They were very accommodating and were able to get us out when we finally arrived 3 hours late. It was greatly appreciated and made a frustrating morning in to a pleasurable afternoon.
Pleasant Surprise
Nice layout with a good variety of tee boxes to challenge any golfer, Good greens, a little slow but it was Oct 17th . That being said the course was in really good shape.
It was worth the drive.
Trestle Creek Golf Resort
Trestle Creek GR was on "The Cowboy Trail", a collection of good golf courses that follow Highway 22 south, a golf trip I've been trying to complete for the past two years but the weather (early snow storms) always seemed to put a damper on things. This year I figured if I started 3 weeks earlier than the previous two years I'd have better luck.
Over cast skies greeted the morning but no precipitation was forecast. A quick and efficient check in with the pro shop, a brief stop by the range to loosen up and straight out to the 1st tee.
Over all course conditioning is very good, big flat tee boxes, plush, wide fairways, bunkers were in good repair and the rough more than playable. I like the layout of this course as all the holes provide you with good sight lines. The hazards are there to see, the undulating greens are large and well maintained and every one rolled consistently throughout the round. There are some excellent holes that rate high on the fun factor. Holes 2 & 7 on the Creekside nine and Holes 1, 3, 7 & 9 on the Jackpine nine.
The service and meal in the clubhouse afterwards topped off a good day.

Great Course. Beautiful scenery, challenging greens
If you love a quality course, deep in the country, then this is the one for you. Very well kept, nice water features, and great views from the tees; especially for the hole with the island green.
Poor conditions
The backnine is closed no one told us that we did not find out till we saw the sign on #9 green as we drove by it. The greens are in ok condition but lots of repair work has been done. The person who set the pins had pins in areas they should not of been right in the middle of the worst spots on the greens I understand the front, middle and back flag placements but use common sense when placing the pins.
