Trestle creek
Offers lots of challenges
Trestle Creek
Excellent experience. Did not use dining facilities this time but have been very good in the past.
Trestle Creek. Worth the drive?
We drove out from Edmonton on a beautiful early fall day to see what Trestle Creek was all about. It was a good hour to get there and we had to drive past half a dozen other decent courses to get there. Worth it? Sure. And we might do it again. The course is at a large RV resort which suggests it might be a pretty lame layout. Far from it. Five tee boxes per hole. 7500 yards in all. The creek runs throughout the course and provides both framing and obstacles on many of the holes. The Jack Pine 9 is about a year older than Creekside and thus the greens are smoother and faster.
A good variety of holes, fairways are wide enough to allow for some failures in precision. Bunkering is fair and allows for run ups to most of the greens. A few elevation changes here and there to add interest. All in all, an interesting course, with a lot of variety. Good value, even at the full rack rate. Electric carts with GPS. A warning: bring mosquito repellent! They were thick and determined.
Great Course
Very nice course, pretty good condition a few wet areas still from some previous flooding. Greens are amazing will test any putters skill
GREAT LAYOUT!!
Trestle Creek will be a destination golf resort in a few years. The course has only been 18 holes for 2 years. Both nines are equally challenging with the front nine being more suited to higher handicap golfers playing from the whites. I first started playing here 4 years ago when the first 9 opened. My friends and I loved the competition of playing the same nine twice. Usually I play 3 times a week at different courses but Trestle Creek is always one of my weekly rounds. The layout for all 18 holes is fantastic. Sand traps and water hazards located in just the right places to make you weight the reward against the risk. Play the safe shot when in doubt. Beautiful fairways but you are going to be cursing the greens if your first putt is from 30 ft. or more. 3 putting is part of learning a new course and this one requires a lot of learning.
Simple course lots of water
Carts very good. GPS standard. Fair amount of undulation on fairways as well as the greens. Nothing too difficult. Curse was in great shape except for divots on greens. The course is wide open and not very interesting and the views are nothing special. If it wasn't for the creek that runs through the course and the sand trap this course would be way too easy. There are 5 different tee boxes for all skill levels. Good prices are available.
Trestle Creek
Great layout. Older front nine has much better greens but expect back nine to mature. Only complaint is the sand which has no base so settle your footing in 7 inches of loose sand.
Great course greens were very tricky
Has a great day and a very nice course for the money. Slow pkay due to the two we were pair up with. But still not bad finished in 4 1/2 hours
Very impressed!
I'd recommend playing this course. Greens were recently sanded though but it didn't bother us! Staff was very friendly and lunch afterwards was very good. Thank you, enjoyed our day!
Very good golf experience.
Arrived early for our tee time and the marshall let us go early. Course was in excellent condition except for 3 or 4 greens which they told us had problems coming in this spring.
Enjoyed the layout. Greens are undulating but are cut to a moderate speed so as to make putting not too demanding.
Pace of play was good and we finished our round in about 4 hours and 20 minutes.
Staff were very friendly. Had a nice dining room which was filled with people enjoying breakfast on Saturday morning. However, did not try the restaurant.
Awesome track!!
This is a well designed course. A few greens need to grow in, but the others roll great and are very challenging. They have some great pricing if you are diligent. We teed off at 1:30 and were done by 5:00. People are going to be driving out to play this gem!!
Challenging day on the course
Course was extremely challenging and there is a lot of water. Rough is VERY long and putting is challenging due to the placement of the pin. Lost lots of balls. Will play again and hopefully have a much better game.
Trestle Creek is an excellent course
Trestle Creek is an excellent course for all levels of play. Its worth a drive for your weekend golf get away. I highly recommend this course to players that enjoy a challenging golf course.
worth the hour drive
very pleasing to the eye, a well laid out course with great turf and awesome greens.
PGA quality greens
Worth the hour drive from Edmonton to play a beautiful newer course.. Booked through Golfnow.com and got a great deal.
Great Value for your money
The course is in excellent shape considering how dry it has been this year. A few of the greens were spotty in some parts but nothing severe. The course offers 5 tee boxes so you are sure to find a distance that suits your game out there. It is a resort style course, it is very playable for the average golfer yet still offers a good challenge for the more experienced golfer especially if playing from one of the back sets of tees. Very good bang for your buck and definitely a must play if you are out in the area.
Poor Pace
This is an excellent course, but the last few times I've played there the pace of play was terrible. My last game there, there were five groups all at one hole. Granted one group was on the green, one on the fairway and three waiting at the tee offs. I find this unacceptable, considering there were four groups of two in each group. Could these groups not have been two groups of four each to spread things out? When I book in a group of less than four, I go to the course fully expecting that I may have other players added to my group. Also, if people played the tees they should that would certainly help. Playing tees that people are not capable of playing, really slows things down as well. Frustrating, when you wait so long at every hole!!
What a course!
We golfed Trestle Creek for the second time this summer and with the back nine now open it is an absolutely great course. We think on of the best courses in the Edmonton area. This course is brand new and has been developed to a very high standard without being an exclusive club. The greens are in perfect condition and extraordinarily challenging. Lots of water and sand but course management can make for a very enjoyable golf experience. Carts are electric with GPS, or top quality pushcarts; staff is very helpful and friendly and the prices are exceptionally low. Also, the course is set in the hilly forest and is beautiful.
Some great golf holes at trestle Creek
The front nine has 7 great golf holes!! The second nine has not reached maturity but still offers a good golf experience.
It is the greens, however, that present the greatest challenge. Second shots into the green place an emphasis on ball positioning given the dramatic contouring of nearly every green. I found the green to be somewhat faster than other courses I've played in the metro Edmonton area. However, the ball runs true so they offer a fair BUT demanding putting experience.
The only negative, to me, was the proximity of recreational vehicle lots to the fairways. As one player commented ,"this is the nicest trailer park golf course he has come across!!"
Not withstanding the above comment I will definitely play this course again in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good golfing test.
