Excellent Value & Challenge for the Money!!!!
The Manor is one of my favorite golf courses. I've played it many times. My wife and I have stayed in the cabins on property & the place is top notch. The views that the course offers with rolling hills, ravines, and creeks enhances the experience. Bad shots are easier to accept due to the beauty factor of this course. Being from New Jersey, it's hard to find a golf course of this caliber for the money at home. I play the course from the tips and to say that the course puts up a fight is an understatement(It has a course rating of 75.1 & Slope of 144 at just over 7200 yards from the tips, much shorter as you move forward- I shot 79 on this day, right around my handicap of 2.6)
As for the course it self, it has some very difficult holes & you need to manage your shots if you want to score well here.
Course Conditions:
-Tee boxes: were in decent shape considering the hot/dry weather the area had over the past few weeks.
-Fairways: Plenty of grass, wide enough to be aggressive of the tee. They were a bit high but again, weather determines the height. The course superintendent & his crew do a great job. There were some areas that the weather took a toll on but not enough to complain about.
-Rough: tough but playable well maintained & consistent especially around the greens.
-Bunkers: I was only in one of them on the 10th hole & the sand was very good quality(looked like granulated quartz because it had shinny particles in it) They must have had some heavy rain before I played because the maintenance crew was working diligently to fix the bunkers that had some "Washout". They were friendly and let me play through with out disturbing my round.
-Greens: FAST & TRUE. and in GREAT SHAPE!!! A course of this caliber would cost in upwards of $125 to play in New Jersey. It was a bargain for the green's fee.
Overall- My experiences at the Manor have been GREAT: I recommend this course to anyone who likes a good test of golf. The place is a diamond in the rough(pun intended).
The staff, especially Doug is friendly and willing to help.
