Template Holes Galore

This was my first time playing a course full of template holes. It was a pretty cool experience to see all of the different styles built into one. The course was in great shape considering it hadn’t rained in we over a month. The staff was fantastic! If I were in the area again and afforded the opportunity, I would easily play here again.

Scenic, Raynor-inspired club

Tennessee is a state where I just don't know very much about the golf offerings, so I was glad to attend t the Golf Advisor Getaway with Brad Klein for a taste of some really interesting courses - all wildly different from one another.

Black Creek is a modern club inspired by the stylings of Seth Raynor, so you get a lot of the template holes he was known for.

The front nine is set in the residential development but the back nine steps it up a notch and plays alongside the mountain and has very few homes on it. I love the 10th hole as well as the par-5 14th among others. The standout on the front nine is the par-5 punchbowl green.

The region has been hot so the bent grass greens were soft. I think it'd be even more fun to play when they are rolling out a little more. The sand was some of the softest I've ever felt on a course.

Don't pass up a chance to play here if you get an invite

My favorite local club

Black Creek features a unique layout and beautiful setting. Conditions as of Spring 2018 aren't quite up to their usual standard, owing to a very poor winter for local golf course grasses. The course requires that you choose the appropriate tees for your game. When in doubt, play one set forward and you will enjoy your round more. There are lots of bunkers here and they're all in play. Choose the riskier line from each tee for a more accommodating approach shot.

Brian Silva design

Brian Silva designed course. You definitely feel the respect Brian has for Seth Raynor around the entire 18 holes. You will see the standard redan, punchbowl and biarritz greens along with some of the most penalizing sand bunkers which all add up to a GREAT experience here.
