Staff
I’ve played this course many times, and will not play it moving forward. The staff that work the clubhouse are rude with no personality unless you play Wednesday morning. The Wednesday morning crew is by far the best. My last two experiences were both bad. The first being I show up and I am told the cart fee wasn’t included it was another 20 dollars for the cart. So a total of 36 dollars for 12 holes. I asked if we could get a replay I was told no they were booked. I guess they didn’t realize I could see the tee sheet which had plenty of openings. Either way okay no replay. I then move to the putting green to chip and putt. The starter comes out and points to his watch from about 50 feet away. I assume he wants to know the time I say it’s 1025 and he says yeah you’re on the tee box, and that I need to head that way! I respond with my tee time is 1045 and I won’t be late. He says I have you down for 1025. I said you need to double check. He does and says 1045 is right. My most recent experience i book online and show up to the course only to be told they aren’t allowing power carts and that I have to walk. I play the first hole and hit my second tee shot when a down pour starts. I try to wait it out under a tree after 20 mins I head in. I’m giving a rain check for nine holes when I paid for 12, and played 1 hole. This course is 1.5 miles from my house and I will never play it again!
A gem of a course in Lansing
The condition of this course is OUTSTANDING. When you have the grounds crew of Eagle Eye and Hawk keeping Woodside's grounds as well, you're going to be in for a treat.
My golfing partner and I walk the course, you know it's 12 holes, right? It's a great walking course. Nothing too steep to climb.
There could be a little more water on the course to drink. I bring my own so it doesn't bother me, but it would be a long round if it was as hot as it was today and no water. Thank God for the beverage cart!
Course is a gem
I had heard about this course and the history but never really considered playing as it's 12 holes - not 18. However some friends talked about how nice it is. I was very pleasantly surprised and will go back. It is challenging - beautifully manicured - peaceful - picturesque - fun! I would recommend anyone to try it.
Very good value for the $$. The only con is there is no clubhouse to get a bite to eat or a drink other than water & pop in a cooler.
Surprising a challenge
The elevated greens played fast and made this short course a fun challenge at a bargain price.
Perfect 12 hole layout
Really nice course and extremely well maintained Greens were fast and smooth and it was April! Owners clearly mainatain the grounds and it shows. Pace of play also excellent. Great course even if you are not in a time crunch
Unique 12 hole course, but maybe a bit overpriced?
Having 12 holes is nice for when 9 isn't enough and 18 is too much. Fairly forgiving layout, not terribly long from white tees. Tee to green expertly maintained, as the course is owned and operated by Hawk Hollow.
First 3 holes doglegs. #4 over water par 3 is very tough. The next 5 holes are back and forth like a country club setting. The greens are very puttable which is what I love.
The last 3 holes, and the newest designs, are much more mounded with massive greens and demanding shots required.
Pace of play was slow but I was solo chasing 4-somes. Price is a bit high for only 12 holes, not much for food or beverages as clubhouse is a tiny shack.
Fun 12 hole course, great if you don't have time for 18 but want to play a little more than 9. Great course to walk as well. Always in good condition as it is owned by Hawk Hollow.
Nice track ...
I will go back to this course for sure. It was fun to play on and in good condition. Staff was friendly and the pace of play seemed to be good.
Very nice course for the price
I enjoyed playing woodside! Cannot beat the course for the price!
Great greens and tee shot execution
Will play again and again
Nice place
I really liked the layout. Tees and greens were in excellent condition! Would be nice to have a club house to stop in and have a drink after your round. Definitely will be back!
A Fun 12
The course is in great shape and it will make you have to hit every kind of shot you have. Dog legs where you need to place it. Some of them have a high degree of risk reward. Long par 3 to a huge green where getting on the "dance floor" is only half the battle.
Check out Willow Wood in Portland, MI. 20 mins or so from Lansing, $25 for 18/cart during the summer. The course has come a long way in a few years and they keep the greens FAST
