Lovely Par 3 course, let down by a ridiculous and dangerous 1st hole
Would have given an overall of 4 if not for one hole.
Holes 2-9 are beautiful and well kept, a good range of easy to moderately difficult holes keep this an interesting par 3 course.
Not a big fan of mats for tees, but as this is a par 3 course, you can hit off the mat as would if on a range, so no real issues there.
What lets this course down is the ridiculous 1st hole, which has the 9th green almost under the flight path of the ball to the green. putting players on the 9th green at risk of being hit. (I stepped off the 9th green to watch the person on the first tee hit their ball through the green, where I had been standing to take my putt)
The tee box has clearly been moved here from its original position. unbelievably bad idea and execution of a redesign of a hole.
I would have rated this course much higher if it was not for this one hole.
Holes 2-9 - Course layout = 4 -overall = 4
Would give hole 1 minus numbers for layout
The course and all facilities are undergoing a huge programme of improvements, however the fairways and greens are in good condition. The new Tees (artificial) seem to work very well, but only recently installed so some GUR around them.
I find it a challenging course with some easy paths to difficulty should the ball stray from the straight and sometimes narrow.
