Looking for an not too expensive golf venue for holiday golf was pleasantly surprised to discover Maverston Golf Club. A warm welcome from the Course Manager lead to a most enjoyable round of golf in perfect weather. A varied and challenging layout made a most enjoyable days golf on quick greens and lush fairways.
Maverstone Golf Course
Loved the course but did object to men jumping in on the 10th between us the the players in front of us -this happened again men play 10th and them jump in front at the 15th Again this slows you up This is not acceptable at our Club !!!
Although weather conditions were poor and the amount of rain lately the course played really well and the greens were perfect. A very testing course.
Cracking course with great lay outs and some really challenging holes
Great Variety and Setup
Thoroughly enjoyed a round here yesterday. Great Layout and natural flow. All in good condition despite being late in August after the driest summer on record.
Very enjoyable holiday golf
I played as a single this morning and thoroughly enjoyed the course. Unfortunately got caught behind two members playing a tie who brazenly refused to let me through, because they were playing a tie! Seemed like reverse logic to me as they were holding me up and not the other way round. There was nobody in front of them. They weren't on the clock, but I could have used a calendar!
However, the course is well worth a visit. The greens were superb, even after a recent verti draining. Interesting holes and a varied selection of short par 4s and a few long 5s.
I would definitely recommend this course. Staff all friendly and welcoming. An enjoyable experience despite the two warmers with warped etiquette notions.
Course is getting better every time I visit it...…….
Great golf in stunning surroundings
This is gem on the Moray coast, every hole has something to challenge but at the same lots of room so hard to score but fair to play.
The setting is excellent with views on each hole, the condition was very good and the course will only improve when the trees grow in. Club house functional and friendly staff.
Very good greens and excellent course for a fairly new course I believe.
Well worth playing here and would come again
Another gem on the Moray Coast
Played the course with my mate and although there were severe gusts it was an enjoyable walk. There are some great tests and risk and reward shots to be made but card destroyers if you don't, sensible play will see a good score but don't let the read of the greens fool you! Cracking views are abundant and on a less windy day the 10km would be more advantageous in taking time to see the views from the many vantage points, friendly staff and very affordable prices for golf and food make it a welcome change, we will return as it was thoroughly enjoyable and with 18 & 9 holes to choose from there's plenty to keep you going.
Great golf and beautiful views!
Thank you Marveston once again for re arranging our tee time due to us having a puncture.
Your kindness was exceplary. You went out of your way and for that we are extremely grateful.
What a great course and we enjoyed every minute. Cheers. Davina Matthews
A hidden GEM
This is a truly fantastic course not least because although only open since April the condition of the course makes it feel like it's been there for years. The imagination of the course designer cannot be praised enough. Most courses have a stand out signature hole, however with Maverston you are spoilt for choice. Is it the sheer length of the 575 yard 6th with its undulating fairways and plateau green a challenge for any standard of golfer or is it the par 3 16th where you stand on an elevated green and aim 211 yards steeply down hill to a beautifull green nestling in a small wood.
These are only two to mention but there are many more stunning holes.
Maverston is a great addition to the many wonderful courses in the area and should go on to be recognised as one of the best.
One small complaint is the bar and catering is very limited and I feel very expensive , however this should not put anyone of experiencing this wonderful Golf Course. I look forward to my next round. At £20 a round very good value for money made even better by the discount received by booking through GolfNow.
A brand new course only open 2 months, so you have to take this into account. The course is quite wide open with very long grass giving the definition between holes. There were quite a few holes where the ladies tees had not been built yet so the yardages were the same as for the men's. Everything was well attended to and the greens were quite good, if a little slow, for a new course. As is usual with these things, the clubhouse is very small but nicely equipped.
