Phenomenal
A very interesting course, made you think about every shot, fescue mounds, bunkers and water are positioned very well.
-Wide enough fairways to make it playable for a higher handicap golfer.
-Greens rolled true, but were not very fast; I am not a great putter, but felt this was the easiest part of the course.
-Pace of play: tee'd off very early and it was still slow
-Cart or Walk: When we played, carts were not allowed on the fairway, so we decided to walk...100% the right choice....its a very easy walk (no hills really) and the pace of play was slow.
Recently played Pound Ridge, and this was much nicer and easier to play (Pound Ridge is very tight). Its expensive, but felt it was worth the money.
Believe the hype, this track is a bucket list course
Wow, just about everything this about this course lives up to expectations. This beautiful track plays long with many challenges that come into play. Rolling hills, surrounding fescue, and deep bunkers would provide a challenge to even professionals.
Today was a picture perfect day weather wise. Beautiful sunshine, low humidity, and calm winds made scoring on this tough track a little easier. Super friendly employees provide exceptional service. With the price of greens so high, you definitely get what you pay for. Definitely worth the money to play at least once for anyone golf enthusiast. For NYC residents, worth it to play whenever you can afford it.
Expensive but worth the $
What a great course! Immaculate condition, beautiful views of the NYC skyline, bridges, river, etc.
Great practice area and friendly staff.
World Class
Excellent and fun course. One of the best public golf courses in the country. Strategic, good green complexes, good variety. Terrific service. I highly recommend
Terrible layout, Poorly maintained, Awful Food
I thought I'd try a Trump course again, my first experience was terrible! I only went cause it was a business meeting. My God, this course is a nightmare. The layout is awful, the greens look like they haven't seen water in months, and the food was horrible! Don't waste your money!
Beauty in the Bronx
I had an opportunity to play Ferry Point this week and I was not disappointed in the least. The course is an amazing layout and in pristine condition. It is long and well bunkered. The greens roll true. There is an amazing practice facility to warm up.
My only complaints are that mats are only used on the range during the week. When paying $150+ the grass should be open. Also, there is NO drinking water or garbage cans on the course. The cart girls come around a fair amount and there is a snack shack after 4 and 15.
Great golf in the Bronx?
Never would have imagined that a 5 star golf course would be built in the Bronx. Incredible links style layout in excellent condition and managed perfectly by the Trump group. Had early weekday tee time and played in 4 hours. There is a city resident greens fee which makes this an even better deal.
Hard to find any flaws....
Loved it and will certainly return.
Best Course in 5 Boroughs
Well, I didn't want to like it given the name on it. And I didn't want to pay for it, given the price tag associated with it. But when a business associate offered to take me out, I couldn't say no. I was not disappointed.
The course is absolutely gorgeous, the setting is secluded enough that you know you're golfing, but the bridge, and the occasional skyline views are a nice reminder that you're still in NYC.
The holes very very challenging. I'm a long hitter (275 avg. ranging from 250-300), we played the blue tees (approx. 6400 yds.), and I was left facing a decision off every tee. Driver, 3W, something else, where to aim, which bunkers to challenge, which to lay up in front of.
Approaches ranged from easy-to-very difficult. The small, well-guarded green on the 7th, a tricky, accuracy-demanding hole from tee-to-green, was among the toughest I have seen, especially with the pin tucked up-front.
The greens were lightning fast; the fastest I have experienced on a public course (other than Bethpage Black when it is in tournament shape, as it has been this season for the Barclays). I was certainly bedeviled by the greens all day. Very tough to read.
One gripe on playing conditions: the greens were obviously very young. They were soft, and spongy, not of the quality you would expect from such a course, but this is nit picky, and expect it'll be different with another year or two of maturity.
Golf in NYC... Weird!...
Growing up in the boroughs of NYC I couldn't fathom the idea of a golf course in NYC like this one. Easily ranks up in the top 5 courses in the Metro area. Thank you Mr. Trump for making this happen. Great course with amazing views. The only thing that I wish for is for them to extend the discounted rates to Nassau, Suffolk, and even Westchester counties.
Certainly worth playing and a fine addition to NY golf scene
First off, hats off to Mr. Trump for finally getting this done, some 25 years after others tried to get this project through. This signature Jack Nicklaus design is certainly quite the contrast to the eyesore of a landfill it was before it was converted into a terrific links-style course with incredible views of two bridges and the Manhattan skyline. Each hole is framed beautifully by fescue rough, mounds, odd shaped bunkers and interesting greens complexes that make this a most memorable round. Though I gave it four stars, it's really more like 4 1/2. In fact, it was priced a little more reasonably and had a permanent clubhouse (which is in the works), I would have easily given it five stars. Still, for visitors to New York, if money isn't tight, I recommend plopping down the $200 to play the course. It's a unique and enjoyable golf experience.
Great design and outstanding greens
I absolutely loved Trump Ferry Point! The course is incredibly well designed and while you can imagine how busy it is given its location you rarely see another group. The Manhattan skyline views are amazing... U will be pulling you phone out for pictures regularly.
Practice facilities are excellent... Real grass range .., chipping...putting and sand.
Well maintained and greens are excellent.
I am sure people who are not local will find the greens fees expensive but frankly on par with other top courses in locations without the unique view of Manhattan
I ain't a Trump fan but this place is special
Food is basic but good and surprisingly they don't crush u on $
No issues with pace however we played on an early season Friday in the morning
Loved it and will be back
The Views!
Absolutely beautiful!! The views of the East River, Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges are spectacular!
Not to mention the New York City Sky Line.
You must keep close to the Fairways or you deal with the mounding. This creates blind shots and hard to find golf balls. Every hole is framed by the mounds with strategic bunkering. It also seemed like there was a pot bunker fronting most greens. Tees, greens and very wide fairways are in excellent condition, especially for being such a new course. Props to the Super. Off the fairway becomes difficult with heavy rough and clumpy lies. My favorites were #9, #16 and #18. Very Pricey$$
Too pricey for public course
I played this course with a golf buddy in 2015. Although the course was open, the club house was unfinished at the time and the staff was still unsure of themselves. The view was far from spectacular and the general golf experience was fair. The steep price for a round of golf here is not warranted in my opinion. I was told that the idea of pricing it higher would appeal to a certain group of golfers. Not a fan!
I noticed all four of your reviews are only one star. Have you ever had a good experience anywhere?
