Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club - Grizzly/Kodiak Course
About
Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club in Ocean View is conveniently located just three miles west of Bethany Beach along the Eastern Shore. The club offers 27 championship holes that are divided into three different nines, Grizzly, Kodiak, and Black Bear. The holes are played in three different combinations. Each nine has a unique character but every course shares winding bentgrass fairways lined with native wetland grasses and a landscape of sandy dunes and grassy hollows. The Grizzly/Kodiak Course is the shortest of the three combinations but it still has the same level of challenge. Strategically placed bunkers come into play along the oversized greens and water hazards also come into play on a few holes There is an interesting variety of holes that each require a different strategy.

Bear Trap
Nice course but they had aerated the greens so slow and bumpy but it is off season so to be expected
Lovely course
Great course with no two holes alike and lots of interesting greens. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
Very Cold but beautiful
We played in late November, hi 30's with a very stiff, constant wind. Only two tee box options and the greens were punched, but you could still see how this place must be good during better weather.
Look forward to getting to play it again when are back in the summer.
Great staff
I need to give Eric Mson and Brooks Ward a "thumbs-up" for a very positiver customer experience. Eric came out of his office to help my partner and I with our Troon points (never an easy task without a prior written approoval). And Brooks for rearranging the tee sheet to allow my partner and I to play as a towsome (my partner recovering from an operation monts ago -- his first time out since the procedure).
Even though a windy day and cart path only -- the course is in great shape in such a nice community. When in area, add Bear Trap to your list of courses to play.
Also, compliments to the Starter (very polite) and for the nice lady working the Snack Bar.
great course however...
Let me first say that I really enjoy playing Bear Trap. The course was in great shape and I enjoy how hoe the course is managed. with the 3 different 9's, it doesn't get boring. But now on to the not so nice part. There were a bunch of knuckleheads out on the course playing loud music and screaming nonstop. I heard they were part of a Bachelor Party. They made the back nine unenjoyable as they were playing side by side from us. There should have been rangers out on the course to curb this inconsiderate behavior. And I heard this from other foursomes. In hindsight, I should have called the Pro Shop and asked them to send someone out to shut it down. It definitely hindered out ability to enjoy our back nine.
Nova Golf
Split pairings 2nd group tee time 18 minutes behind and finished 1 1/2 hours behind
nice but pricey
There's nothing wrong with this course at all, but it wouldn't be anywhere near so expensive anywhere else but at the shore. I expect to pay half the greens fee at home for a comparable course. The amenities are great: extremely friendly staff, free range balls, well-maintained putting and chipping practice areas. the course itself, however, isn't really better than The Rookery in nearby Milton, which costs about 40% less.
First time at Bear Dunes
My brother in law and I hooked up with two locals
Had a great time
Starter got us out 30 min early
Course was very challenging and in very good condition
Would love to play again when I am in the area
Well conditioned course
Played for 3rd day in row, as good as first day. Player in extreme heat and would suggest some water coolers of bottles. Greens and fairways were pristine
Rata
Good layout with quality conditions. Pace of play could improve but great course for beach resort. Would definitely recommend if staying in area.
Bethany Beach Bargain
Nice little 27 hole course 2.5 miles from Bethany Beach. I play this course every year I vacation in the area. Conditions are always great. Layout is awesome and can challenge you no matter the handicap (tee location dependent). I enjoy the summer twilight rate drop and would suggest this to most. $65 for this course is a great deal after 3 PM. $119 before that time….not so much. This course is right up there with Bayside and Baywood Greens golf courses and would suggest anyone who can, play all three. Enjoy!
