Golden Era Golf in Wilmington
Porkys is one of my favorite courses in the area. Bang for buck it’s hard to beat. There is nothing flashy, but the 100 year history makes you feel like you’re playing golf at a place that has seen the game change. The straightforward layout but exciting greens are the recipe for a great golf course.
Good relaxing course
Ed Oliver is a good course overall. Pretty straight forward with not a lot of elevation changes per hole, but it’s a fun relaxing course to play that won’t frustrate you if you’re having a less than stellar round.
Great value
I d played here before, I really enjoy it. Nice conditions very nice greens. Some spots are narrow, but it’s very nice.
Left wanting more
I play this course a few times a year. For having a very seasonable Fall. The course conditions weren't the best. As always, the greens were in great shape, which they usually are. The fairways were decent and the tee boxes were just OK. A lot of brown patches and dirt areas on tee boxes. I've always liked this course and the layout. Hoping it gets to heal through the spring time.
Sand Traps???
All Bunkers need to be fixed. How the course management don’t see that there’re more gravel than sand in the bunker!!!
Poor conditions
This course needs a lot of work. Paid $47 for 18 which nowadays is cheap. However, 50% of the time the ball was unhittable from its lay. Greens were sanded (it’s October!) and the fairways were punched (fairways!!). C’mon man!
Staff are really nice and layout isn’t bad. Good potential just needs better maintenance.
Left early
Pace was extremely slow on a weekday around 1:35pm start. First time playing there, could not see any Marshall to keep pace. Got frustrated and left with 4 holes to play. The course is in good condition tho.
Well worth the price
Had an earlier tee time on a Saturday. We were able to speed through the round with almost no hold ups. Greens and fairways were in good shape especially considering the dry few weeks we’ve had.
All good
I am a single and always play with good people there. The course is challenging and in good shape. I am usually able to get a good rate with the golf now app, which is nice
Porky Oliver course Wilmington DE.
Two of us played 18 holes yesterday. Greens were in decent shape---I did not see any weeds or other surface disruptions. Fairways had quite a number of weeds present. Tight lies were frequent on the course. Cart navigation was easy, with the next tee box close to the last green. .
Conditions poor
Bunkers hard as rock
Fairways terrible
Tee boxes terrible
