Twelve: Consistently excellent and strategic fairway bunkering distinguishes the Red Nine from most typical public courses. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/15/2020

Thirteen: Another FW bunker situated about 30 yards from the green to catch pushes & slices; a second, greenside bunker to nab imprecise approaches. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/15/2020

Good Public Golf Course
The course was in pretty good condition. A few of the tees were in rough shape but overall, the conditions were good. Pace of play was fantastic, as we played 18 holes in just under 4hrs. I'm sure the threat of rain kept some people away, but we moved along quite well.
Great shape...
Went with an old friend old mine and we had a ball...No one in front or back of use...The course was in excellent condition and I give credit to the groundskeepers who take great care of the course...Had a hot deal that was a great price and will go and play Stanley again !!!
Great course
Course was in great condition. The carts have gps screens for easy yardage calculations score keeping and pin placement. Driving range tee box is covered and personal heaters for incliment weather. One of the best courses for price in central Connecticut!
Could be much better
This course is interesting, with many multi-level greens, some water, etc. Plays longer than the card reads due to some challenging aspects of the layout, such as bunkers in front of the greens. Fairways were in good condition. Greens were only fair. Aeration marks from last year were still showing (greener than the rest of the grass). Rough was almost non-existent. Not sure if it is lack of rain or fertilizer or both. Admittedly still early in the season. Very good course if you live nearby and want to get in a round. I don't think I would play here often, though. A few quirky holes, which is too many for my taste.
The whole package
From driving range to practice greens to snack shack hot dog to post round drinks and chow, Stanley Park offered it all plus a very enjoyable golf course. Perhaps best hot dog on any course. First time playing newly renovated red nine was not dissapointing. Pretty much had course to ourselves. Great day all around.
An Excellent Course. Currently Under Renovation
Stanley Golf course is located in New Britain just off RT 9 at the Westfarms Mall exit. It has always been an excellent course and next season will be even better when renovations are completed. (see below) This 27 hole layout gets a lot of play because it is usually in excellent condition, has a great layout, is reasonably priced, and has a friendly staff. Rangers patrol the course keeping play moving. The course is very popular and gets a lot of play from leagues, tournaments and day players.
I've played this course many times in the past 10 years and always found it a good layout that is very well maintained. It is one of my favorite courses in central Connecticut.
However, players thinking about playing this course this year could be disappointed in the conditions, which are explained below.
Stanley has three, nine hole courses: Red, White & Blue. Last year the City of New Britain sold some land from the Red course to build a new Costco. Consequently, the Red nine is now under re-construction and may reopen in the fall. The White and Blue nines are fully open but are currently under a lot of renovations. Last summer (2014) new drainage lines were installed and the fairways and cart paths are still showing the scars. There is also a new tee box under construction on White #3 and bunker work throughout.
I played the White & Blue nines on 6/17 and had a great time. We played mid-week for $39 with a GPS equipped cart. Before teeing off we were told by the starter that six holes (3 on White, 3 on Blue) were cart path only due to construction and water on the course. This hampered our club selection when our balls landed opposite the cart path. The course has wide, well manicured fairways lined mostly with pines. The large greens were in excellent shape. The hole routing is a bit confusing where some of the White and Blue holes intersect but there's signage to help locate the next tee box.
There is an snack bar at the main intersection near the clubhouse that is usually open in the summer, and a great, full-service restaurant inside the clubhouse.
Also, the property has a large, heated driving range that is open year round. There are also a practice green and a small practice sand trap and green near the driving range.
All-in-all we had our usual great round then spent some will continue to play Stanley. Hopefully, the repairs will mend this summer.
I played this course on 5/23/2016, In the pro shop the pro tried to charge me 52$ for 18 w/cart,when he realized I lost interest in playing there for that price,he back peddled and gave me a reduced rate,it was a beautiful morning, their parking lot was empty, now I see why, sadly Stanley is one of many miss managed courses, eventually a golf course will not be able to make up all the revenue it has lost through the years of poor operations, the course itself is fun 27 hole layout, well conditioned but far from a 50$ a round course, after this poor experience I will never go back again
