AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Terrible Customer Service - my home course was closed today so rang here and spoke to a lady to check course open, was told yes and tee free 2.50pm, great so I booked online and you pay in shop. So I drive over to Oak Royal (30 mins away) and get a VERY unfriendly welcome at pro shop...no welcome, hello or how are you doing?....straightaway this lady now tells me the course booked, a golf society on every tee (no mention of that on telephone!) - I advised I had rung and booked tee. I just found the general tone and attitude of this woman very unfriendly. I have played golf for 20 years up and down country amd this has to be the most unfriendly reception I have ever received at a golf club. The tone and attitude of this lady suggests she lacks the basic customer skills. I wont be trying this course again or recommending it to other golfers.
Groudsmen
Various parts of the course were covered in tyre marks from turning especially around the greens and on the ends of the fairways. No pride taken in the work. Understand it’s been very wet.
Very suprised!
Having been living in Spain for the past 3 years I’ve moved back to the Lancashire area and have been playing all local course to me. I’ve played Blackburn, wilpshire, pleasington and oak royal are by far the best greens I’ve played on absolutely awesome conditions for this time of the year very impressed and will definitely be back. Rest of the course is wet but understood as we’ve had relentless rain. Only 1 down side are tyre marks all over the course disappointing to see marks on the aprons and on some of the tees, more care needed by the ground staff!
Course layout was poor
Course was not well looked after bad with drainage on the course, the layout wasn’t really that much better. Front 9 and back 9 just completely the same although everyone seemed really nice at the club. Wouldn’t really recommend.
Winter Golf
First time visiting this course, we did 9 holes in some challenging weather conditions, decent course with the challenge of the brook ripping right through the centre of the course. Will be going again!
Over zealous club shop staff
Found the bedside manner of the club shop staff to be lacking. The course also doesn’t cope well with wet weather - very boggy. Would expect better.
Wet day but warned
Lovely course. Challenging enough for a higher handicap player. In great condition and well maintained - Staff were lovely. Will definitely play again.
A good challenge
A challenging 9 hole course with some long par 4’s and a couple of par 5’s which gives you the chance to use your big clubs. The course is well maintained with fast greens. Beware of the brook running through the course so shot managment is a must.
Great challenge
Good challenge for a 9 hole. Some long holes with par 4’s and 5’s a chance to use you big clubs
Oak Royal is a little gem.
Very nice course, excellent condition good test off white tees will definitely play again.
Consistently impressive
9 holes in the late summer sunshine. The tees are well maintained, the fairways good, and the greens are always well looked after.
The 9 hole course can be played as 18 with the back 9 off different tees. It offers real opportunities for a good score, but also has enough hazards to make you ask the risk/reward question many times. The par 5 7th is a gruelling hole, not for the faint hearted. However, there are ample opportunities of birdies for the moderate golfer on other holes.
Friendly staff and a welcoming club house with outdoor balcony are the cherry on the bakewell of this great course. Quite often advertised for £10 a round on GN, it is not to be missed!
Course condition
Not the first time I've played here but on this occasion, the tee beds were very uneven, the fairways were holding lots of water and evidence of the green keepers doing 'donuts' in the middle of the fairways with their lawnmowers. Not what you expect see on any course, even if it is a 'play as you pay' course but also has paying members.
Great fun
First time playing at a course and I don’t think I could have picked a better one to start off with. Friendly staff, fun course, wide open fairways so even my massive slice sometimes stayed in play. Would 100% play again
