Spectacular New Back Nine
Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club is now a championship 18 hole track! And the just opened new back nine is an Arthur Hills gem. Risk/rewards abound. With several extremely unique and challenging “carnival ride” greens unlike any others I’ve played on the Eastern Shore. Excellent course condition, beautiful new clubhouse, cart service and friendly staff make PL a a must play. Outstanding value!
Great experience, first time here.
Great value for money this time of year. Plan in place for Covid 19 (pay in advance, separate carts, no rakes, things in hole to prevent ball from going all the way down in the cup, etc...). Very interesting layout. Nice combination of difficult and easier holes with lots of risk reward in play. Course in outstanding condition for this time of year. Can't wait to play till the next 9 holes opens up. Will definitely be back. Justin in proshop was very helpful.
Great new course
Fairways and greens are in excellent shape. Tees to support all playing levels. Fairways fair and ample, however, errant shots pay the price. Playing the course multiple times required to learn risk and reward opportunities from the tee on par fives and the two long par fours (hole numbers 11and12). Greens fairly large resulting in 10 to 20 yard distance changes based front middle and back pin placements. Sand traps in very good shape and fairly consistent throughout course. Course only has 9 holes open now so you play the same nine twice. Changing tees on second nine suggested to make second nine more challenging. Remaining nine holes due to be completed some time in 2020. Overall, a great value despite having top Kay the same nine twice. Play time is consistently 4-4.5 hours.
Only 9 holes open, but they are in excellent shape. Greens were perfect.
Excellent course, pro shop staff makes a difference
Plantation Lakes (PL) is a hidden gem in SoDel. Not located in the touristy areas of Ocean City MD or Bethany Beach DE, PL can successfully stack up the course design and conditions against all others. The Arthur Hills course, with 9 holes completed and the second 9 ready next year, is a bargain versus $100+ "marquis courses" like Bayside and Lighthouse Sound. These better known resort courses seem to get by on reputation alone, but PL delivers design and an enjoyable (but challenging) golf experience. And, to top it off, the pro shop staff values it's customers and works hard to make sure you leave PL happy and looking forward to a return visit. Don't miss Plantation Lakes the next time you're playing golf.in SoDel.
Overall, a very satisfying round of golf at Plantation Lake golf course. The course is in excellent condition, the layout is diverse and challenging and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Golfers should note that the course only has nine holes, which you replay.
Was disappointed with the fact that the driving range was being repaired and there was no water on the course on a very hot and humid day.
Thank you for the good review. We appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoyed your experience. As an FYI, every Monday the driving range is closed until noon for weekly maintenance and then again Thursdays until about 9 AM to prepare it for the weekends which should have been included in the information when booking, i will be sure to double check that it is. As for the water on the course, due to our recent move into the new clubhouse, our new ice machine has not been delivered yet and we did not want to put out warm water. My hope is that you were informed at check in of no water being on the course...if you were not informed, please accept our apologies! We surely hope to see you back at PL soon before the cold weather returns! All the best and happy golfing!
Excellent course when front 9 are completed will rival aereas top links. Also when new club house is finished I am sure the facilities will get a 5 star rating.
Challenging course and in great shape; love the course and the staff.
This course is on its way to becoming a top course in DE. Friendly and attentive staff, course conditions always below par ("birdie" shape). Challenging set up and great greens, you gotta play it but, please fill your divots and repair your ball marks.
Thanks for the great review and we are delighted to hear you enjoy the conditions of the course. Hope the smooth, quick greens keep those birdies rolling in for you ;) see you at Plantation Lakes again soon!!!
From the staff to the course, it’s a great Arthur Hills design. 5 tee boxes with challenges a plenty. We were greeted professionally, excellent condition, I love this course. A must play, can’t hardly wait until next year to do it again.
Thanks for the review and we are delighted to hear you enjoyed the course. Look forward to seeing you back at Plantation Lakes again soon!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your experience here at Plantation Lakes and look forward to having you back again next year!
Best Kept Secret in DE
All of the guys at the course were great. We talked about the course layout, conditions and the finishing of the front nine and clubhouse. The course is second only to Baywoods in beauty. Kudos to the grounds team and Superintendent. I played with a member who was super friendly and we actually stopped of at his house for an ice cold beer. What a great day at Plantation Lakes.
Great course in beautiful shape
Sun broke out between thunderstorms just long enough to play 9. Love the new trap on 13. The 16th fairway had been a problem but is now pristine. The new clubhouse and second 9 are under construction and looking great. The new practice green and practice facility are very impressive. I wish PL would offer a nonresident membership so I could be part of it all.
Good Morning and thank you for the wonderful review. As an FYI, we do offer an Annual Golf Pass to the general public. Please contact the Golf Shop at 302-933-8072 or email@example.com for more information and we look forward to seeing you back at Plantation Lakes soon!
Course in great shape as always.cant wait till other 9 is ready for play
Thank you for the review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your visit! We are excited to complete the project and look forward to your return.
The course is in excellent shape. Once the club house and additional nine holes are completed, I am sure my rating for the categories of Layout and Amenities will be 5s as well. It is great to see the progress this course has made in the past several years. The grounds team has made tremendous improvements in the past 2 years and now seem to maintain the course at a high level.
Highly recommend this current 9 hole course.
Thank you for the wonderful review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your visit! We are excited to finish this project and get both the Clubhouse and full 18-holes open and look forward to your return.
Very strange experience the second time around.
We played PL last year and had such a great time we went back again this year. First, the 9 holes that are up and playable are awesome. Tee/fairways/greens are all in great shape. However ,this year was diff. Seemed to be a free for all this year. We got the feeling we or outsiders weren't welcomed there. Barely any staff around. No Starter to direct anyone anywhere. Lots of singles or doubles playing so there was no coordination for golfers coming off the 9th hole to replay 9 again and for golfers who were just starting out. We had 2 groups. First group teed off but as were going to our balls, we saw singles coming off 9 for their replay. So because they were singles, our second group being nice let the go first. First group finished at about 4 hrs, second group 5 hrs. All because no one was out there coordinating things. We also notice that single golfers seem to play a few holes and then disappear. Seems like the surrounding community plays when they want then walk off. Thats what it looked like to our groups. Last year I would have said this is a must course. This year, you might want to wait until they finish all 18 holes.
Thank you for returning to visiting Plantation Lakes, we are happy that you enjoyed the golf course. We pride ourselves on high standards of course care and customer service, so we are very sorry to hear that you had an experience that was short of outstanding. No golfer should ever feel like an outsider. Just so you are aware, Rangers and Starters are not employed during the off-season and shoulder-seasons which we still fall in. However, we are currently training a number of new staff members to curb the issues that you have raised. As an additional note, while we are still 9-holes, we do have to issue two tee times to anyone playing 18 and we schedule them 2 hours and 6 minutes apart, per our pace of play. Because of this, groups are not obligated to allow singles or twosomes to play through as it creates issues at the turn and with pace of play like you mentioned. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and for your review and we hope to see you back soon.
