My rating on the condition is because the green where just punch
What happened?
Course is in the worst shape I've seen it in the last 20+ years. Dry weed covered fairways. "Sand" traps are mud. I was very disappointed. I love the layout of the course, but it needs brought back up to its old standards.
Playing with impending doom on the horizon......
If You've lived in the High Desert for any length of time, you know the forecast down the hill is not indicative of the conditions found up here. We played with clouds looming on the horizon and a bit of wind, but overall conditions were fantastic. The course is in a state of dormancy but still plays well. It's a beautiful place to be when the alternative is work...... I'd recommend playing because of the value and the people. The course is always a challenge.
Especially the greens are ART!
Great greens
The course is in good shape. The greens are really smooth and the ball runs true.
Great standby in the High Desert
I played High School golf in the Golden League about 45 years ago and this course was on our schedule. What a surprise to find it public now... Did not warm up as I do not like hitting yellow balls, but my game only suffered on the first 3 holes. Took me that long to realize that these greens require a look from all four sides.
Greens in good condition, but I always like them to be faster. Fairways in condition as well. BUNKERS? Well let's just say that after the first few holes I realized that I was not going in any more! And that worked just fine until #17. Oh well I got on the back side...
Use to be Hesperia was my High Desert Go To, but ever since the Parks and Recreation Department took hold of it... Well suffice to say that it is not my go to anymore.
Thanks for the memories Apple Valley Country Club
Flat and boring
Friendly staff but the course needs some attention
Tough but fair
Course in super shape. Greens very fast but ran true.
Awesome greens! Fairways looking better every week
Greens are in great shape! Fairways are much improved. I've been playing here more frequently because of how the course is coming in.
Great outting
Everything was on point, teed off 5 minutes before scheduled tee time and just flowed all the way through all 18 holes, never had to wait and only saw the group behind us on the 1st tee box.
A Slightly Tarnished Gem In Apple Valley
No this isn't a polished resort course like you might find in Palm Springs. But it is a nice little gem of a course in the high desert. Yes, it has the look and feel of a municipal course, with structures that are aging, fairways that are a bit too dry, and inconsistent sand traps (some soft and playable and some hard and wet beneath a deceiving 1/4 inch layer of sand). But the course rises above it's faults by providing an interesting and challenging layout, fast and "true" greens, and a very friendly staff. It is an "old style" course with many tree-lined fairways, and holes that make you think about your shots. It winds through an interesting neighborhood, that has probably seen better days, but is probably still the place to live in Apple Valley. If it wasn't over an hour from my house, I would play there frequently. Tip - Before booking, check the forecast for predicted winds. The winds were a very playable 10-15 mph when I played. However they can often howl at 30-40+ mph in this area - and that is never any fun for golf.
Great value
Greens were in great shape. Quick! Super value for a quality course
Not quite what I expected
I was told that I had to pair up with another individual and I did not expect that
always fun
Good course always fun.. Greens were recently punched but firming up nice.
Très beau terrain
Très beau terrain dans la région. Bien entretenu et gens accueillant. Excellente qualité prix. Les allées sont bien entretenues.
