Course Needs Work But Is Not That Bad
I have been playing this course for a few years now and is a nice course for the money. Our group plays it enough times to warrant getting the pass so you don't have to wait at the gate. I use this course more for practice because the price is right. That being said, the tee boxes and fairways need mowing, not too high but please cut it. The bunkers need work but I have seen a whole lot worse. The greens amazed me, in very nice shape, kudos. The course is fun to play, a lot of different layouts, some forced carries. Need to hit the ball straight if you want to score. This course would be great for beginners, reasonably priced and if you play the right tees, fun. Give it a shot. One thing I always write in my review, this course is not a high end resort, this is why you can play a lot of golf here compared to 1 round at a resort, just saying.
Hidden treasure for the middle handicap people.
Super deal and Value.
I like it because if you willing to rave the midday heat, it's wide open.
I appreciate being able to take my beginner wife and have no pressure.
The greens and layout are great. A bit of hard pan off the fairways and some spots you need to bump your ball to get some decent grass in the fairway, but for the price... I love the place.
Sand traps are' t worth trying to hit out of. Not groomed, but overall.... great place to take your wife or kids. Nice for a group of 15-20 handicappers too.
Guys who play a lot might not be as satisfied.
Great for walking
Walking this course can be done. The layout keeps you going on long par's and keeps you on your toes on 3's. Water is always cold at about every 4 holes. Bathrooms are set out great.
Grill is interesting. I think all Burgers should come with choice of FF or chips. Potato salad or Mac bought local could easily help out for choice. And charge a dollar more. Not two.
Staff is always awesome !
Bathrooms have not seen a toilet bowl cleaning in some time in the golf shop.
Do not be late.
Call one hour before to get through the gate for escort. It is a Air Force Base. Have your Id ready.
Previous reviews misleading
One hour wait to enter base even after calling 30 minutes prior to arrival as instructed. When we finally got to the course the pro shop staff member was very apologetic. High marks for friendliness but we went to golf...We finally got on the course which was green on tee boxes and greens but dirt/hardpan everywhere else. Off the “fairways” were waist-high weeds. The greens were surprisingly really well-maintained and rolled true. I usually play a whole round with one or two balls but I went through a whole box! High marks for “pace of play” because we were the only ones on the course! When we finished, the pro shop was locked with a sign on the door that read: “Closed due to lack of play”...parked the golf cart by the door...they could have called me since they had my cell number...when you add the cost of lost balls and search time, this course is not a good deal at any cost! I wish the previous reviews had been more accurate so we could have avoided this frustrating and disappointing experience.
Home on the range
Technically course is tough and not very forgiving if you miss the fairway by virtually inches be the second cut tends to be somewhat tall along with grass that has been cut but hasn’t been picked up, can be easily lost. Carry additional balls unless you can stay in fairways all 18 holes. I consider it a challenge to improve my game. I have be been playing at this particular course for about little over two years and have gone from triple digit scores to scoring in the upper 80’s. I’m cutting my teeth on this course and I enjoy playing it.
Fuzzy wuzzy was a fairway
I play this course fairly often. I like the challenge of its layout. Unfortunately the fairways are often more like rough. We had the added problem of freshly punched greens. I usually like the greens. If you play here more than a couple of times a year, it would be worth paying for a pass. The pass costs $40, but the course will give you a free game and a bucket of balls. That way you can get on the base without waiting, otherwise you might have to wait up to an hour to get sponsored on.. I don’t like the first two holes. They are very narrow with extremely elevated greens. The 18th hole is a par 5 that is also very narrow with a dog-leg left. I still like coming here.
NO ALERT
Got to the course and found out that the back 9 was closed for aeration. When I complained that there was no alert on GN, I was told that the employee would suggest that to the manager, and that I should have called before booking.
I wouldn't have driven 50 miles RT if I'd have known I had to play the front nine twice.
If courses are going to book with GN, I believe they should be responsible for notifying GN of aerations, temporary closures, etc.
We saw Coyotes !
Coyote Run is a quiet course that has great play. Tricky shots over trees over lakes and creeks. Do not look for your ball if it's lost. Drop another. On cooler days bring a wind breaker you'll wish you had as the course sits onto of the plateau's of the foothills. Birds are very happy here and you can hear many of them singing.
Club house is good on the turn. Drinks open at 2p. Beer and wine are available. Snacks on the short side.
Call one hour before you arrive to have escort bring you in from the gate or you will miss your tee time.
Well manicured
A lot of work has been done on the course since the recent rains. Much nicer , not muddy, nice greens.
course
Front nine was closed due to weather, Played the back nine two times. The wind was terrible
There are real cayotes
course is well maintained, not too many leaves on ground where ball potentially could be lost. The front 9 was a little saturated but we are directed to stay on cart path but that was ok. Back 9 was better and able to drive cart out 90 degrees to ball making play faster.
We were never waiting on groups ahead of us which was very ideal.
Soggy
The course was very soggy had to play the back nine twice. Front 9 was closed because of rain.
Course in bad shape front nine closed
This course was in very bad shape. Standing water and deep mud in the fairways. The front nine was closed and it was not noted on your site. Very disappointed in that. We fouls have golfed elsewhere had you posted that.
Nice course to play
I play this course a few times a year. It is a nice course, nothing spectacular about it but is fun to play. By no means easy as there are some forced carries and you need to put your ball in the fairway. The fairways are in good shape, bunkers could use some sand and the greens were in very good shape. I like playing this course and will play it again.
Challenging
One has to have course management to eliminate those extra strokes. Don't like fall too much because I tend to be a little off once in a while and I loose a ball or two under the leaves but all in all, the course provides good entertainment. I broke 90 for first the first time and I'm good with that because I still have my training wheels on.
Customer service
The staff in the Pro Shop and on the course we're fabulous quality customer service
Course not maintained
Was difficult to play. Course not maintained well at all. Like hitting a ball in a pasture. Bad grass. Several times I hit the ball in the fairway only to lose it in the thick grass that was 3-4 inches high in the fairway. Would have been bad conditions even if in the rough. May sin . And I left after 11 holes.
Lots of rain
The course was muddy due to all the rain the previous day. Other than that it was great.
