This Course is Excellent
This Course is beautiful and staffs were very friendly.
Course is well maintained and loved course lay out. My wife and I had a great time playing there.
Better than last
I had played here about 8 months ago and was disappointed with the condition of their greens. I saw that several reviews said the greens had improved, so I gave Milton GC another try. I was pleased with the greens (16 & 17 still need to get better) and enjoyed my round; playing in 2 hours and 45 minutes. The staff was helpful and friendly, too.
First time playing
Pleasant surprise to play this course for the first time. Employee met me at my car to pick up my clubs and take me to the pro shop. Played by myself in 2 hrs 45 min on an early Friday afternoon. Only a few holes on back nine had some green issues but not major. Definitely will play it again,
AAC has changed since last played
I played here in a tournament in the summer but the course really changed. When I got to the course the staff was very friendly that is one reason I changed to 4 stars on the rating. The clubhouse was designed nice with a gym and nice decor in the dining room. The practice facility is great except for the fact that they have a net instead of a driving range but the net gets the job done. I also enjoyed the outside seating outside and the cold water and cups given to us before are round. The course was not in top shape with some bear spots on the fairways and shaggy putting greens there obviously scared to mow. The second holes a good par 5 I liked the par 3 4th. The 14th hole was a cool little hole. I liked 16 a strange par 4. This is another course that has footgolf which is starting to make its mark. The course is short and narrow but with a few changes this could be a nice course.
Best I have seen it!
I have played this course in the past with mixed results. I had heard that they had changed their name and was hearing some good things about the conditioning of the course. I was amazed at how good it was! There were still a few greens not fully recovered from the summer but the rest were great. I fully expected to see some stress on the greens after what has been the worst summer on record but I could not believe how good not only the greens were, but the entire golf course. I also found out with the name change came a brand new membership offering. For $99 a month you can be a golfing member of the club. With the improvement the club has made, this is the best private club value in the Alpharetta area!
Greens
Everything but greens were O.K. However the greens were not puttable.
Seems to be that way every time I have played it this year.
MUCH improved!!!
Played this course a while ago and the greens were REALLY bad. However, since new management has taken over, the course is in much better shape and the staff is beyond friendly. You can tell they are working hard and it is much appreciated. Little things like free coffee/tea/water in the pro shop to a practice net to hit balls for free. Obviously there's no practice range, but the addition of the net was a nice surprise. The young lady in the pro shop could not have been more friendly. Everyone on staff we encountered seemed genuinely glad we were there. The best part? We played 18 holes for $17 during lunch time. Yes. $17. Absolute steal. There was NO ONE on the course either. It was wide open in front and behind us. Between the price, the upgrades, and the friendliness of the staff, it could not have been better. Great job Milton Country Club!
AAC has improved nicely science name change
I played at Alpharetta Athletic club on a rainy day. The course was in good shape and thought that the layout wa ok. The hamburger was really good durning the rain delay. My group planed on playing 18 but unfortunately for everybody's safety they had to blow the horn. My group liked the clubhouse and putting greens. I was preatty disappointed that they had no range and you had to hit in to a net. I didn't see the back nine but I did like the drivable 7th. If the back was like the front it would be a nice course.
Excellent short course for intermediate player
Short course, but very playable. Greens in excellent shape.
Borderline
Milton CC is the old AAC West course. There is nothing special about this short course. The layout is not exciting. Conditioning is below average across the board. Bumpy and slow-ist greens. Inconsistent bunker sand and grooming. Some of the staff treated us like we were second class by holding us up on several occasions for course maintenance. Milton GC has no practice/warm-up facilities.
The 5th hole
Nasty par 5. Good luck to anyone who can get it past the pesky tree in front of the green.
Not as Bad as Others Say
This is the first time I played this course.
The reviews for the course are terrible. I will say something appears to have changed.
It is now Milton Country Club and it is obvious they have made substantial improvements to the greens - there is white, very "fluffy" sand in all the bunkers and the tee boxes and fairways are in good shape...no complaints.
The layout is just plain weird - no turn - just a bathroom with a couple of vending machines. There are a few incredibly narrow fairways that great shots to navigate. The holes weirdly weave around the property and some are extremely close together.
I had a great time and will play again. Just know this is a shorter course with a tight layout - if you bring your "A" game you can score - if not - plan on being frustrated...

Short course but challenging and fun.
Good Value for Price
I was a little disappointed with the condition of the course. Weather is starting to warm up so i was expecting the course to be a little greener. Certain spots on the course are EXTREMELY hard (as in, the ground is hard). It seemed impossible to get the club under the ball at certain holes leading to MANY bladed shots. Overall though, shot par and had a nice day on the course. Staff is super friendly and accomodating although the practice area leaves a little to be desired.
Very tight on some holes
First time playing and gentleman in the clubhouse was top notch checking us in and organizing the first tee after a frost delay. Course starts off with four excellent holes. And then the holes become very tree lined, tight and some just made no sense in terms of layout. Greens obviously had some issues late summer as sometimes happens with Bent in the south but you can tell they are working on them and they will respond once it gets warmer.
AAC West
Let me just say I was excited to play this course, because I was considering joining AAC, but not after playing a round at the west course. The greens were in terrible shape, every green had fungus growth on it. After the front 9, you must continue on it does not finish near the clubhouse. If you want food or drinks you must get them at 5 and 14, in which the only take CC's and they write the card number down on a piece of paper, if you are going to open the course to the public, you should at least take cash. I would play this course again in the summer, maybe by then things will be more grown in. But I am glad I did not join just yet.
Greens are bad
Fungus got to them. Bunkers are hard and mostly clay in need of sand. They need to spend some money and fix this place up. I wont go back until maybe next spring if the price is low.
Interesting Course/Terrible Greens
Got a super deal on Golf Now while on a visit to Atlanta and since it is usually a private club, decided to sneak in a round. While the course was not too long, it is very narrow in places so you need to be careful off the tee. Elevation changes made it interesting on some holes also. I played late in October and the greens were terrible. Big dirt holes in the front 9 and the back had been sanded. Like putting through a construction site or a sand trap! I would like to play this course again when the greens are in better shape (playable) and everything is in bloom...I'll bet it's pretty!
Thank you for considering membership at AAC. We are sorry to hear that you had a less than favorable experience at the West Course last time out. Our staff is working diligently to get the course in great shape for the upcoming season. Please feel free to email me at mike.lane@alpharettaac.com if you would like to talk membership, play our other course, or give the West another try, Thanks!
