Always fun to play
Tee thru green was in great shape considering the time of year. The greens are fast with lots of subtle breaks.Putting the ball in the right place on these greens is paramount to scoring well.
great condition
greens are good and challenging, the fairways are well maintained, and it's a fun course to play
A hidden gem
Blythe is a William F. Bell design, with an assortment of doglegs, water hazards, grass and sand bunkers, a dramatically elevated par 3, and some blind or partially blind shots. The second hole is 195 yards from the white tees, but plays 170 to a double green, shared with #6.
Many of the greens are elevated. They're smooth and fast, with tiers and some severe slopes, so care must be taken in planning the approach or chip.
The fairways are also tilted sometimes, and can put a pretty good shot into a bad place.
The front nine runs down and up the Mesa Bluff, with large elevation changes. The back, from 10-16 is relatively flat, but with more narrow fairways and doglegs defined by large trees.
17 is a double dogleg par 5, 550 from the whites. 18 is a strong uphill par 3 with a grass bunker in front.
The course is a par 73, with 5 par 5's. The fairways are well-groomed, and the greens are pristine, smooth and fast. The greens fees are quite reasonable. This is an above-average golf course at a very reasonable price.
Nice Municipal Course
Great course for value... If your tired of paying a $100 plus for around of golf I would definitely recommend Blythe. The greens and fairways are in excellent shape. The rough is very dry and sparse, probably due to water conservation. The course has some unique holes, but nothing to gimmicky. Pace of play was 4 hours 15 minutes. Blythe seems to be a hotspot for retirees and overall was a pleasant experience. It's only drawback is it's distance from any major city. We are staying in Palm Springs, so the drive one way is an hour and a half.
Great fun very challenging
Coarse was in great shape, greens are tough to read, I enjoyed my round.
Loved It
The front nine was unexpectedly hilly, but ended up liking it a lot. The back nine was flatter but still challenging. The greens were faster than expected and a bit frustrating. Loved the 18th! Will play this course again.
Excellent course - great greens!!
A very nice stop between Phoenix and LA. Front nine dramatic and good challenge. Back nine was a bit pedestrian after the front 9. Greens were in excellent shape, rolled fast and true.
gorgeous green and fairways
Greens are fast, smooth and receptive with plenty of slope, but not so much as to make them unfair. Fairways and green side rough is lush and very playable.
We played later in the day, with some open holes in front of us so our pace of play was very good. But both days we played we noticed 5 somes on the back nine, and wondered if we played earlier what would the pace be like?
Don't be put off by the word "municipal"
It says Blythe Municipal, but it's far from any of the municipal's I've played. Super little course with some tricky holes and the FASTEST, SLOPIEST greens ever ! Super friendly members and staff - thanks to Ken the professional who was very friendly and helpful, we'll be back !
Well maintained
Great greens great staff Good carts pace of play average
traveling la to phoenix
Niceas pit stop to get in a round of golf and break the trip up..nice course and friendly people
course needs layout map on scorecards and carts
cart paths are difficult to find or follow on some holes and are in need of repair on others.
Excellent Day of golf
I was very pleased with the course and the people working at this course. The highlight was definitely the fast and true greens.
Course was in great shape
We had played several courses in Palm Springs before we decided to drive over to Blythe. This was the best course by far. The greens and fairway were in prime condition, the pace of play was excellent and the staff is friendly and informative.
Well worth the drive over there.
Picturest
Enjoyed this course very much. Well kept and picturest.
Hidden Gem
Don't miss Out if You Are Is The Blythe Area. AwesoMe Course That IS Well Taken Care Of.
Typical Muni
The front nine are interesting with some good views and elevation changes. The back nine are very mediocre. We stopped at this course on our drive from Palm Springs to Scottsdale to break up the monotony. Glad we did because it made a boring trip much nicer, but the course is a typical muni with typical muni standards, upkeep and conditioning. Nothing to complain about so long as you have the right expectations. The price could not be beat. Overall, good value for money, but most definitely not a destination to go out of your way for.
course conditions
Never seen greens this nice..good job superintendent
if you're near--don't miss it.
very tricky greens in good shape...you think you can score well???---don't be surprised by several strokes over your handicap. I'd recommend this course to anyone......
Hidden gem
This course is perfect. Lush, green, beautiful. Only 4 stars because it is so far out of the way. Should not be listed as part of Palm Springs area, as it is 120 miles away! But one of the best muni courses I've played.
