Denarau Golf & Racquet Club

On a trip to NZ, a stopover in Fiji is never a bad decision. I first played here back in 1994 when the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club was just a year old. Absolutely loved it then and nothing has changed in that regard, "still a great golf stopover". A smooth check in at the resort and then with clubs in hand, straight to the pro shop to get in 18.

The course is built through an area of mangrove so you will be required to negotiate water hazards on 15 of the 18 holes. This Par 72, 6538 meter (7100 yds) has a minimum of 4 tee boxes on every hole which allows you to pick your poison...choose accordingly. A gentle breeze off the water makes for a nice walk among the wide, palm tree lined fairways, generous bunkers and smooth putting greens. The par 3's are fantastic. An easy walking course with scenic views that will test your course management and your ball striking skills. 5 rounds in 3 days, wonderful.

Friendly staff, nice selection of fare on the menu, great laid back atmosphere and a good test of golf. You would be hard pressed to find better value for your money while in Fiji.
