My tee shot on the second hole. It was nice to get a birdie early. Photo submitted by Napawillie on 03/30/2015
Great starter or tune-up course
My wife is a relative new-comer to golf and Date palm provided our best choice yet for her to use all of her clubs in a challenging yet fair environment. I am a single digit handicapper yet I found I used all of my clubs in the course of the round. Greens were excellent, holes were challenging, though a little trimming of
many over-hanging trees along the fairways would help. All together a pleasant place for a couple of varied abilities to play.
Great Warm up course
Great warm up course. Had carts, nobody in our way, great fast easy mostly par 3 course, 4 par 4s. Would play again. Greens are really nice.
Course was good for our beginner or moderate players.
Enjoyed playing the course. Very difficult to get tee times but when we played hardly anyone there. Staff don’t seem to care about booking tee time. Just say none available. Maybe just a bad day.
Will try another time.
Rude lady in office
I have played this course many times over the past 21 years. However today a grumpy old lady didn't want to check me in as she was eating a sandwich at 10.15 aml. She was so rude it was unbelievable. Eventually she got off her butt and gave me a key for the power cart. She never said anything about the large group starting in 1 hour from #1 and 10 tees.when we got to #10 there was 12 golfers waiting to tee off. We went around them and played it after #18.. not coming back anytime soon.
A Hidden Gem
This an executive course that was in immaculate condition. Fairways were plush and the greens were excellent. Would definitely play here again.
However, the lady in the pro shop was a Debbie Downer. No personality whatsoever. We were fortunate that the course conditions didn't reflect her personality.
Love it!
You can walk round the course as there is no distance between green and next tee.
Plenty of shade when the weather gets warmer
Always a warm welcome
Not the most challenging of courses but enough to test your skills. you can get round walking in 3 hours. you are not hanging about waiting - players will let you play through. now has an Italian bistro which we haven't tried yet. There is a fire pit to sit round and enjoy a beer after a round.I've paid a lot more and had less enjoyment!
Great par 3
We were supposed to play another course that day but due to the wind cancelled our game. I then looked on GolfNow and found a time available at Date Palm.
We enjoyed ourselves as a 2some and the only golfers on the course. Absolutely no wind there.
The greens were great as well as the rest of the course, we were pleasantly surprised.
Course needs TLC
Wow, has this course ever deteriorated over the years! Too bad as we used to play there a lot.
The Royal 9 was OK, although slow as they seemed to put everyone out at the same time and of course, there wasn't a Players Assistant on the course.
We then went on to the Mountain 9...lots of work needed. Couldn't tell the rough from the bunkers on some of the holes.
The greens on both nines are patchy (maybe a virus?).
Great par 3 course
This course actually surprised us as we usually only golf the bigger courses, but due to the wind in Indio, we booked a tee time here. It had enough challenge for us...several ponds, sand bunkers and excellent greens.
This person obviously attributed their round to the wrong course because Date Palm does not have a Royal 9 or a Mountain 9, and it is in the best shape in 15 years!.
