Valentine is so lucky
This is the best cheapest course I’ve ever played. $42 to play 20 holes. Lots of shot variability, beautiful setting, top conditioning. If you come to Valentine to play prairie dunes, spend a day at Valentine.
Great Course, great people!
Wow! Best 9 hole, with a bonus 10th hole, course I’ve played. Lush, perfect fairways & greens. Holes in the prairie, in pine-filled canyons, and with elevation changes. Beautiful! Friendly local golfers helped us out, since we were early morning guests, and the manager wasn’t yet on-site. They checked to make sure our cart had sufficient fuel, and gave us some pointers about the course. Had a good post-round chat with the club manager, and some local guys. I want to play it again, & I’ll tell all my golf buddies about it. It’s a muni course, but don’t let that deter you. As nice as any “country club” I’ve played, but without the country club attitude.
Great Ten Holes!
Frederick Peak is one of the best 9 (okay 10) hole golf courses I've played. This was an impromptu stop for me and my friends on a recent golf trip. I'm so thrilled we stopped because Frederick Peak is so unique that I'm not sure I'll play anything like it again.
The opening 4 holes are on the flat part of the course before holes 5-9 descend into, and then climb back out of the valley on the far side of the property. The 6th hole is one of the best par 5s I've played. From the back tees you play to a partially blind fairway and then can go for the green, which is a punch bowl design. Just a great hole!
Frederick Peak is a course all golf enthusiasts should play!
A must play!
Awesome!! Beautifully manicured fairways and greens. A must play when you're in the area. Lots of elevation changes makes it a very fun course to play.
Scottish Style Course
Get ready for some hills. Beautiful scenery and lots of challenges on the fairways and putting. You will have a couple of holes that are 20 to 30 feet drop from the tee box to the putting.
Amazing Course!!!
My son and I had the privilege to play Frederick Peak Golf Club a week ago. This is an amazing course. Take out that it is a 10 hole course (great marketing), but that should not keep one from playing. The cost is extremely reasonable. They are full featured. Let's review the course.
Layout - No hole is the same. All holes are unique, especially number 5 & 6. Even with wider than average fairways, ball placement is at a premium (you don't want to miss the fairway).
Tee Box - All boxes were well maintained.
Fairways - Premium. No problem with any lies (unfortunately, I only had a few to hit from due to being inaccurate).
Greens - Probably the best you'll play at a public course outside of tournament ready courses. They are well maintained, receptive, and roll true. They are not the easiest to read due to undulations, but fun none the less.
Carts - We walked (not recommended unless you're in good walking shape). However, the carts are in great condition as most are only 2-3 years old.
Club House - Everything you need can be found. It is spacious enough to house a good size group.
Staff - Probably what makes a golf course more than anything. The staff was friendly and conversational to a point of making one feel welcomed.
Conclusion: If you are ever driving through Nebraska, go to Valentine and take 2-3 hours to play Frederick Peak Golf Club. You will not regret it!
Awesome as always
Course is in great shape for it being early! Get out there and go play!
Best Value in Golf
By far the most unique municipal golf course that I’ve ever seen. 10 holes of very diverse golf that blends perfectly into the natural landscape. Stunning elevation changes. Definitely not the standard small town public golf course. The course is only 4 years old and will continue to get better with time. A must play. Roughly $30 for 10 holes with a cart.
Beautifully conditioned and a testy layout. A sleeper. Lehman’s greens r tricky. Andrew is a friendly young man.
Amazing
For a municipal course that is in small town Valentine Nebraska this course is unbelievable. To start the young man in the pro shop was very informative, explaining the history of the course. The tee boxes were like walking on carpet. The fairways was next to perfect. While the greens had just been sanded they rolled true and quick. The course is in some of the rolling sand hills of the area and very picturesque. For the money of a Hot Deal this is the best course I have ever played. Shooting a good round on a perfect day with my wife, doesn’t hurt. Oh don’t let the 10 hole course (that’s right the course is only 10 holes) cause you to miss out on this gem.
