Decent Course
This was the first time playing a course in Louisiana.
Course was in great shape compared to the courses back home (DC Area) at this time of year.
Greens were TifEagle which had a weird texture. I had a difficult time judging speed.
Price was right and included a small bucket of balls.
Course plays long, not sure if that is because it is in New Orleans which is at sea level or what.
Staff was friendly, course was in great condition and carts were very clean. I would definitely would play there again when in the area on business. Next time I will try the North Course.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone looking to play in the New Orleans area.
Good time
Course is challenging but definitely fun. Price is a bit steep but overall a nice course.
Terrible green conditions
The greens had ball marks everywhere with buds coming up. I understand it’s winter but for $130 on the weekend that was ridiculous. You would do much better taking your money to TPC, Carter plantation or La Tour. The south side is starting to get like the north side,if you played there you know what that means.
Did a golf trip to New Orleans. Learned on the way that the south has been experiencing a drought… and it showed. To be fair I am not going to rate or comment on the course conditions. Instead, given the rest of my experience I am choosing to assume that with some rain the course conditions would be fantastic, and I do look forward to returning one day to find out.
Things I Liked
- The fairways are HUGE! This course is built on a lot of acreage, and the course is forgiving off the tee.
- The green complexes are very challenging. The greens were fast, the bunkers were strategically placed, and the green surrounds provide a great challenge. Swing away off the tee, but you better have a short game to score well here.
- The staff inside, and the starter outside, were very friendly and helpful.
Things I Did Not Like
- Non-resident rates. Sorry, incredibly jacked up non-resident rates. I eventually retreated and purchased an online deal. Would rather have my money go directly to the course, but cannot agree with that level of mark-up.
Thing Important to Me
- This course is built on a lot of acreage, and after walking the course I felt that in my legs. It seemed like there was a walk equivalent to a long par 3 between each hole. That being said, I survived and would walk again.
- The branded ball marker is really cool!
- There were water coolers out on the course to keep everyone hydrated. Also, we saw the cart girl quite a bit too (5-6 times).
Pristine
The course is in pristine condition. Fairways are lush and well manicured. The greens are exceptional, running fast and true. I was truly impressed with how well yhe course played. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Great day for golf
It was a great day of golf. People were very nice. I had my daughter with me and it was enjoyable. Many options for different levels of play.
Hot deal opportunity
Non-resident green fees are pretty high but golf now had a Hot Deal for same day play for $70 so I gave it a go. Greens were beautiful and the fairways were very nice although a little tight in some spots, but very playable. Weather was perfect and I got out as a single and was paired up with another single. We played unrushed and only waited on a handful of shots. 4 hour round. Will try to get back out there again before I leave if I don't have to pay the non-resident rate.
New Orleans Golf
Great fun swinging a club on Bermuda fairways and driving balls at sea level.
Great layout
Greens were nice and fast right after it stormed the day before. Some greens have some bad spots. But I would compare the course to a English Turn and Lakewood. Wouldn't say it's $130 course.
Overpriced
I used to play here often, maybe 3 times a month. But now, no more. The $25 rounds are gone. $70-$80 is too much for me. Better options exists. It's a shame because the was usually in good shape. It's a very playable course where I have had my best rounds. However, ...
