Not a good time
They are punching the course, one closed yesterday. Range closed, has been for weeks. Course is soft, no run. Go back when it recovers

Hidden Gem in Chino
Honestly, this course and its sister course (Chino Creek), are both wonderful tests of golf. I enjoyed the layout of the Butterfield Stage course being open with less OB, which lead to more risk-taking and no lost balls. Great for the value, even if they make you pair up for carts (Luckily, the tee time was early and I got my own) and if you get out first thing on a weekday or even the weekend, you'll be finished in 2-3 hours. One of my only complaints was that there wasn't a starter on either side which lead to me teeing off after another group with a tee time after mine. Also, the 18th green felt like I was putting on a plinko machine with all the dead grass. Additionally, if I didn't have the 18Birdies GPS open while I was playing, I would have gotten lost on trying to find the next tee since there are branching paths after almost every hole. So many times to get to the next hole, it would take forever because there are no signs for where the next hole is. But overall it's a good value for a course that rivals the value of its neighbor, Los Serranos.
Butterfield was in terrible shape
This is one of my favorite courses- normally !!
Granted- we have had a lot of recent rain- but the fairways were not damp or mushy. The grass in the fairways has not been mowed in a long time. Much of the fairways grass was 1-3” long. Drives got no roll whatsoever- and hitting the 2nd shot was like hitting out of the rough. Very frustrating when the best lies were on the trampled down cart paths !!!
A little warning before paying full price would have been appreciated.
Xmas Present DID NOT disappoint!!!
Played on Monday 2/12/24 started at 10:15am and ended at 3:00pm (4 hours 45 minutes)
I feel like the course is still recovering from all the rain that fell in the past couple of weeks. There were parts of the course that were muddy. And some of the bridges to get across the river passing through the course are broken. It was cart path only as they were trying to keep the fairways in order. The staff was super friendly and the hot dogs were 🔥🔥🔥.
Will definitely come back and play again in the future!
Pace of Play - POOR!
1st time in 20 years playing El Prado.
Greens were OK but not consistent, Tee Boxes good, fairways good, rough Ok, Bunkers need to new sand - poor. Pace of Play - POOR! Needs more signs for directions, and better restrooms.

Fun day with low expectations
This course sits in a area that collects lots of water during the rainy season. Along with that comes a flood channel that runs in many areas of the course. The tees boxes are nice, and the greens are easy to stick and easy to roll puts on. In between is a junk range, terrible carts, poor yardage markers, and hard as clay bunkers.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our golf course. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the water collection during the rainy season and the flood channel. We appreciate your feedback about the junk range, carts, yardage markers, and bunkers and will take it into consideration for future improvements. Nonetheless, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the tees boxes and the greens. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.
Fun course!
I've only played this course 1 time about 15 years ago. I was able to get a great deal on Golfnow.com. I was pleasantly surprised on how well the course was. The greens were immaculate, and the fairways were in very good condition. The round took 4 1/2 hours to play. I will definitely be returning.
Same Ol El Prado
Since it’s still close to Christmas, the course has been very crowded. Nothing much has changed regarding the course aesthetic and playability. Most bunkers are dirt and not sand. There are many sore spots and grassless patches in the fairways. The ponds are dirty and it looks like even the ducks try not to go in them, much like my strategy. The carts are old and need new shocks and sometimes they want to steer left, especially when I slice to the right
That said, it’s one of my go to courses the last thirty years. Management seems more strict lately and they have a new policy that unless you agree to share a cart, they will add on an additional $14 which is a huge rip. Try to get on Los Serranos instead!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for any negative experiences you may have had regarding the course aesthetics and playability, including the condition of the bunkers, fairways, and ponds. We appreciate your loyalty over the past 30 years and understand your concerns about the recent management changes and cart policy. Thank you once again for your feedback.
