Very nice
Very nice layout. Nice cart path. Nice driving range.
Course is ok
The course was ok, am big fan of the layout. However the green are in bad shape. Look very burn and bumpy. The ruff was very high, had trouble finding ball that may have tricked off the fairway just little.
Need some work on the greens.
Fun public course
The greens had recently been aerated so they were the worst part of the course. But it was a good mix of open vs tight tee shots. A fun course for $40. I’d go back for sure. The driving range was closed when we were there which was unfortunate but they do have one. Very nice staff.
Terrible staff, yelled at for using driving range
Don’t come here. Complete waste of time. John a white, Charlie Yates, Alfred tup Holmes are all better, cheaper options. I signed up for forepass ($30 dollars a month for cheaper golf and unlimited range balls at browns mill, according to their website at least). They open at 7. Showed up around 8 o’clock, was given a slip for the bucket by the person working the pro shop. I went around back where I was greeted by a lady and was given a bucket of balls by another worker. At this point everything was fine, I had probably 15 balls left to hit when this lady in the ball retrieving cart rolled up all upset with me yelling about how the range is closed, I’m not allowed out there, what am I doing?, etc. I’m confused and explain that I was allowed out here by two other employees. She’s clearly angry with me, or her coworker who let me use the range but is taking it out on me, she’s halfway through ranting about how I shouldn’t be there but gets flustered and tells me to just finish up, I can tell she’s mad but she insists so then I try to hurry up and hit the rest. It’s obviously awkward at this point, I’ve never been bothered like this at the range anywhere else. I should have just left then. I was trying to finish up the last few shots when the guy who was working the counter and initially gave me my slip for the range rolls up on me telling me I’m not allowed out here and I need to go. I had a few more balls but at this point I’m being bothered by two different people including one of the people who let me out there in the first place lol, like I’ve done something wrong so I said “you gave me the slip, I was allowed out here by multiple employees, this a goofy (censored) golf course”. I cursed but I wasn’t screaming or freaking out (I said the “a word” nothing extreme) just annoyed for being kicked out and treated like I was trespassing or something when I was allowed in until they changed their mind on a dime. At this point a third employee rolls up on me, some old guy in an ambassador cart who I honestly thought was going to intervene and apologize for the other two but he starts yelling at me for cursing and talking about how “I don’t know him” etc. Give me a break. Dude gets right up in my face with his rotten brown teeth like he wants to fight talking about “respect”. I tell him “wow you’re the third employee here to be an (censored) to me today.” Then he really loses it and gets right up in my face. Classic boomer being rude and aggressive about how everyone should respect him. Also he’s right, I don’t know him, he’s an old loser who works at a golf course looking for fights. Then a fourth guy starts yelling aggressively at me and somehow made it about me being a white guy which was awesome. Good stuff guys. I’m sure I sound like a Karen here but I was genuinely happy to join the forepass, and on my first day out I get treated like I snuck in and yelled at like I trespassed when I just spent money and was let in by multiple employees… I left and I won’t come come back. This could all be avoided by the employees being on the same page and communicating effectively with each other instead of sending unknowing customers out to the range to then be scolded and talked down to by other ignorant employees. Spend your time and money elsewhere. The staff at John a white and Charlie yates are are so much more welcoming and it’s cheaper over there anyway. At browns mill you’re paying more for worse golf and service.
Rough needs mowing, much too high for an average muni course. Greens could use more water after aeration (played 0823/23).
Also, not enough water available for such a hot day.
Best value for your money in Atlanta
After playing Tup Holmes, which is a disaster, this course is a dream. Great layout friendly and efficient staff. Carts are not the nicest but got us around without failing. Course conditions were awesome. After a night of rain there were a few low spots lying in water but as the day went on it dried right out. I would recommend this track to visitors or locals looking for a nice course at a great price. They don’t sell anything in the way of snacks or beverages but knowing that you bring your own and pay less for them anyway. No issues.
Great golfing
Got paired up with some guys and we all had great time. Fun course. Good greens.
Cart shortage
Booked tee time was 4 PM. People were waiting for ANY cart to be returned at 3:40 tee time. They had more than 20 carts inside, which requires maintenance, and ended up waiting for 1 hour to tee off, same for the group before and after me. Will not come back to this course.
Good course; greens recovering from aeration
Fairways were good. Greens a bit bumpy. Bunkers need a stir. A starter helped solve a problem of three young guys jumping around on the course and in front of people. The practice green near 10 was way slower than the actual greens. The clubhouse had no drinks for sale on a hot hot day.
A hit and miss
The lady running the carts and range balls was terrific. The course was in pretty good shape. The threesome in front of us was so slow that two groups behind us quit and drove in, skipping the last two holes. The ranger was friendly and driving around, so I am guessing the slow players were friends of his that he didn’t want to embarrass by forcing them to let us through.
This course is too long for many players - the shortest tee box is 5500 yards. They really should add one or two shorter tee boxes.
Mr Davis
Good course a little wet. The Greens need rolling. Otherwise course is in good shape.
Get it together
I used to like this course but when I arrived yesterday for my tee time, we were told that there was a 1+ hour wait for carts and that the driving range was closed unless we wanted to pick up the balls ourself. On top of that, GolfNow is a joke to get any type of refund. I will avoid this course from here on out.
