Welk Resort San Diego - Fountains Executive Course

Course is moderately difficult. Good variety of holes with good placement of hazards

While I agree the overseeding was a bummer for awhile it was necessary. The course is in absolutely beautiful shape. There isn't another course in southern california that is in such good shape for a around $25. Beverage cart has super limited hours as does the snack shack on the turn but the wraps are really good. Pace of play is generally really quick. Even if you end up waiting quite a bit its still under a 4 hour course.

Fountains is a beautiful course. The scenery on several holes is very pleasant to the eye. The course is not overly difficult for a low to middle handicapper, but distances can be hard to gauge because of the elevation changes. Reading the greens correctly is important, downhill puts are quick and up hill puts against the grain are slow. I will definitely play this course again especially with golfnow deal rates.

No.16th green is a very tight target and requires some control to the shot to avoid hitting players approaching on the other fairway at the left side. And don't forget to yell FORE! in case you hit an errand shot.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Great place to practice your short game. Greens were slow but receptive. Fairways had just been over-seeded and were growing in nicely. Tee boxes were well maintained. A bargain for the price I paid. Many elevation changes made using a range finder necessary. A well laid out and challenging course with the need to shape your shot around trees and rocks to get to the green.

This course is kept in magnificent condition....the greens were as good as I've ever seen them and I've played there over the past 10 years many times......good pace of play and for an executive layout it's clearly one of the best anywhere......can't play there as often a I like but when I'm back in CA from AZ, I always try to get there.....along with Pala Mesa Resort and Castle Creek.....great golf in north SD county.

Course is very well maintained. Greens and fairways were all in great condition. Staff very friendly. Great experience if you want to do 18 in under 3 hours and have fun.

We were not told that it was cart path only until after payment. It was wet, soggy uneven grass patches.
I realize you have to keep the courses in good condition and reseeded but this was unbelievable. Been golfing for years and a numerous times at your resort and never had this type of experience.
Expensive for and executive course.

Fairway grass was very long and grabby due to over seeding, should be very nice in a few weeks.

The price was great so I called to be sure that the course was in good shape before I booked on line. I was told the course was in good condition. I asked about aerification and they said no. Well, they had overseeded the fairways and the golf carts were on path only. No mention of this was made on the phone even though I asked about course condition. It was very wet and muddy. Play was slow as many, many old folks had to walk across the fairways at a snail's pace. We usually enjoy this course but this was the worst! I wish the staff would hav been honest with us as we would have waited for better course conditions.

I am a novice golfer, so for me this course is challenging. It gives me a chance to use my drivers more than where I normally golf. Everyone I was with enjoyed themselves. For better golfers, this course may seem easy. The fairways were very damp and soggy and muddy in places, otherwise I would have given the course 5 stars.

Got a good deal for 18 holes. It was nice day and course had some par 4s. I had got the cart in the deal but the staff guy said that it was newly seeded so they are cart path only but as there was no marshal there were people taking the cart on the fairways. The fairway on most holes is quite narrow and you have to be really straight with shots as there are a lot of resort units on either side. Not for beginners for sure. I'm just graduating from the newbie status so it was quite good, complete at bogey for the worst of holes.

Welk Fountains course is usually in close to perfect condition. Not this time. Cart path only as the fairways were soaked, not wet, soaked, making it close to impossible to properly hit your second shot. Crab grass has taken over on many holes, the tee boxes were all clustered on one and the bunkers were either mud or like concrete. There was also no starter at the first tee, which resulted in slow play.The web site mentioned nothing about aeration, which would have made our decision for us. Welk is not like it used to be.

Short but a good tune up. In good shape. Would play there again.

This an excellent course. the course is in great shape. the staff is excellent and very helpful. It's great for players of all ages and skill sets. You can beat the amazing views.

Difficult to find tees and respective greens. Confusing layout with obstacles.

Not what I expected, didn't know it was an executive course. If you like to practice your short game it is ok but other than that it is not great or much of a challenge - was disappointed. Some of the greens were not in great condition and very short par4s. Its not worth the drive.

I really enjoy this course because it allows you to practice on your short game and pull out the driver on at least half the holes. course is always in great condition.

Very green for this time of year! Fun course that will challenge you! Distance various on every hole! Recommend for all golfer it was a great course!

Took my 6 year old out with me. Perfect for both of us. I was able to use some metal woods and it wasn't to long for my kid.
