Good test of golf
It's a challenging course with a great layout
Good muni course.
This course can be a real test, a lot of uneven lies in the fairways, practically no flat putts. The greens seem to not be cared for as much as they could be. This course comes down to putting, so bring old Billy Baroo.
Worth playing
I really enjoy riverside each time I play the course. I would recommend playing here to anyone. I do have one minor complaint. I noticed there are quite a few unrepaired ball marks on the greens by previous players. I would fix my ball mark and end up fixing 3 or 4 more that were already there. I don't think it's from the experienced players. I would guess beginners or people not caring.
Excellent spring conditions
The greens are as good as this course gets with all the play. When the summer heat comes they will hopefully stay this nice.
Pace was poor-- we didn't even start until 40 min after our booked tee time.
This seems to be a recurring theme in the spring with all the charity tournaments.
Good value
Played here before and pace of play is issue due to course being crowded. But if you have the time, it is a good value for the money.
Good time
I had a good time, a single joining a theesome worked out fine. The only real negative was the mowing during or after the rain leaving lots of clumps of grass I mean lots on a few holes. One error on the mowing won't stop me from returning.
Goat Ranch
Sorry, not sure if because of all the rains or what - save your $$ and play somewhere else. Fairways unmowed, and alot of bare spots. Really not worth the money. Was surprised they charged what they did, not even worth $10 / round.
great pace of play
Was allowed to keep our pace, was not pushed at any time.
The Greens were great
I had a tee time for 12:37 and we tee off at 12:42 and that was due to the a four some that had difficulty getting off the first tee. The course was in good shape after the heavy rain fall from two days before, the greens were in great shape and very quick for Riverside. Although the course was crowded we still were able to finish within four hours.
Challenge/views
Always staying straight down a fairway is hard enough, this course tries to help you with several holes that are wide open, on the other hand, just enough challenge making me come back for more(mature trees, water hazards, bunker placements and of course these are always in the way but still makes it fun), then on the back 9, the scenic view gives you a feeling of let me play it again , overall excellent and the addiction of mastering the fine details on the course has me booking another tee time!!
Standard Muni
This is a standard muni course. Conditions are in line with what you would expect from a muni course, nothing major one way or the other. A couple of holes have elevation changes which helps break up the monotimy. It also has a lake for an extra challenge on a couple holes which I always enjoy. Some of the greens are tiny and are starting to show signs of the dry summer heat. I imagine they must be getting close aeration time.
Poor Service
Pros
Place has nice greens and runs a little fast. Food is good and not to busy.
Cons
Set up a 4some online for 27 a piece(1115). Got there at 10:23, slid my card and guys says to start whenever I want. So decided to not practice after all. Little did I know that he over charged my whole team. When I approached them about it after he was reluctant to credit back. I have the receipt and confirmation email. But said since I teed off early he is not going to do anything for me. What customer service huh... Disappointed cuz I like the course... O well, there is plenty of other courses
Slowest round
No one out here seems to understand you should let players extremely faster play through. There was even a marshal out here who doesn't have a clue what marshals duties are. We seen the marshal several times just driving around not saying a word to anyone while tee boxes were piling up with as many as 4 groups on the tee. When it was mentioned to him nothing was said and he drove off. The pro shop/restaurant staff are polite and considerate
Course in good shape, restaurant staff friendly.
Given the California drought situation, Riverside's fairways and roughs were in outstanding shape, showing no ill effects. The greens could use some work, though. They haven't been punched this year and have a lot of ball marks on them. There's enough variation and strategy to make this an interesting and fairly challenging course to play. The cafe staff were very personable and attentive.
Best shape Big Muni has ever been in.
Riverside fairways have finally arrived. They are almost country club quality with just a few bare spots. Greens are, as usual in great shape. With the recent work on several of the bunkers Riverside continues to be one of the best golf values in the Valley.
Play in the sun
Fair play over all but the bunkers stink. More like dirt and very little sand. Green moderate in condition. Greens could be better. TLC needed
Excellent for the money
You can't beat the value here. This course is in amazing shape even with the watering restrictions throughout the city of fresno. Fairways and greens were in great shape
wait for bunker work to be finished
Good course overall, but there is work being done on bunkers and equipment in the way on numerous holes
