Great 9 holes with great staff
Great 9 hole course...top 5 in the state for a reason. Position golf at its best. U break 80 u have played well.greens in great shape and if u can't work the ball stay home in your mom's garage
Do not play
I've been golfing over 25 years and I can honestly say this was the worst course I've ever played. A 9 hole course with practically every fairway peppered with goffer holes and exposed roots tat could easily break an ankle. Tee off boxes (if you can call them that) were rough and lump. The greens were small, uninteresting and all cups were half full of water.. Staff was friendly and courteous but definitely not upfront when I called asking plus the Golfnow description was way off too.
It getting greener
Fairways are greening up nice can't wait to see what the boys do for the summer
Course is OK considering...
I understand that we are in a drought and the course reflects that. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were all very spotty. The staff was nice and they seem to be taking as good of care of the course that they can. The guy that assisted me at check-in was actually out mowing the fairways. I'm glad I got a discounted price on GolfNow, I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price given the course condition. It was not terrible, I think it just needs more watering given the summer heat in the area. With California's water condition it might not be possible to make it as lush as it could be.
Fun scruffy 9 holer. Lots of different tee boxes to make a solid 18 hole round. Got a great deal on TeeOff. Greens were spongy but smooth and medium fast. Fairways were hit or miss, they are watering but not a ton of grass. Very scenic setting with tons of trees, overhanging the fairways and greens. Staff was excellent and very friendly don’t know whom the other reviewers interacted with. Worth playing, but it is very remote.
Keep trying to give this course a chance but it just keeps disappointing overgrown fairways, tee boxes dried out, not worth the trip staff informed us that they do not get anything from players that use golfnow and they made sure we new about it.
stay clear
They double and triple book the Golf Now tee times. They usually have the owner and his friends playing some sort of match or the members are playing 6 and 7 person groups blasting music from their carts so everyone on the course can hear. They don't have enough carts to go around if there are more than 3 people there. You are lucky to get a window when they do have a cart thats not broken. The owner let this place go and I do not recommend making the drive up the mountain to play it, let alone the price they charge to play is astronomical for the amount of grass that is non existent. Maybe we are paying to feed the gophers and squirrels?
We just need some rain.
The place is beautiful and the greens are as good as they can be. It has been so dry the fairways have dried up but besides that, you cant beat the view. We get some rain and this place will be 5 stars again.
Course needs a bit of TLC
Beautiful weather and surroundings however the course itself could use some work. The green fees should reflect the course conditions. Tee boxes were ok. Fairways were dry and brown. Greens were in decent shape. Considering current drought conditions, watering could be done in early evening/dusk? Watering at, 4ish made some tee boxes unusable and had to make shots around active sprinklers from tee to green..
Fair
Upon checking in a man light up a cigar in the next room and I mentioned a breathing issue as I was not able to breath and the comment was “oh that’s Don; he does it all the time “ vs oh let me tell him to put it out. Calif law not enforced and I puked on the fourth hole from it . A relaxing course to play with its layout and not busy with 2 or 3 groups behind you. Maintenance has some work to do with general weed eating and fixing non functional rest rooms on the course Since it’s not a course that gets watered thought spring would be a good time to play as my first time a year ago it was summer. It has great potential! Would love to see improvement.
Feel like a loser
The pro checked me in saying oh your the guy playing for free. When I said I wasn’t playing for free he said well we don’t get anything for you playing here. Then he said see those guys getting ready to T off, make sure you don’t go in front of them because they’re paying customers. Talk about feeling humiliated.
Had a great time
This was a fairly challenging course for me and we had a great time.
Typical Mountainous Coarse
Drought conditions are very prominent even this early in the summer season.. The fairways were dried out and very rough riding with carts. The coarse requires proper selection of clubs due to narrow fairways. In general & side hill rolls.
Great layout and friendly staff... too bad...
Too bad COVID financial times have forced management to let the gophers run rampant. The fairways are very potty with bare patches and the rough is really tall (4"-6" in places). Lost a lot of balls due to the long rough. Tee boxes really need TLC. The greens are the only really fair part of the course. They are doing their best to maintain the greens by watering (there were hoses left out near some of greens). Wish that it was possible for them to bring up the maintenance of the grounds. It was probably a really great place to play back in it's heyday.
Buckingham
Love the layout, challenging course, ground tends to get Hard in the Summer (Lack of Water). Does need some tree trimming done, all in all fun, challenging course to play, Sometimes!
To bad they decided to up the price of golfnow hotdeals. Went from 12 bucks to 32????...on to Hidden Valley!...
